  1. Implement a higher tier than Teams

    Currently within a Mattermost server, the highest tier of organization are Teams. However, Teams are not self-contained, and even if it is configured so that users cannot join other teams/channels, users are still aware of other users outside of their respective Teams and can also communicate with one another.

    It could be useful to have another tier above Teams, for example Clients (for servers that serve enterprise clients).   2. Add option to show nickname or username (never real name)

    There's no way to show the nickname or the username (if no nick is set)

    • In Account Settings -> Display -> Teammate Name Display

    You can choose to see the username, the first and last names or nickname falling-back to First and Last name, but there's no one to give priority to nickname over the username.

    So, add an item such as "Show nickname if one exists, otherwise show username"

    In the way that the first and last names are never shown, unless required.

  3. Make CMD+Enter work as a shortcut for saving an edited message.

    Currently, when people have "Send messages with CMD+Enter", this shortcut does not work in the message editing window and people have to save their edited messages with a mouse click.
    I propose the message editing window to behave the same as the message sending box works.

  5. Send E-Mail using Slash Command

    We are using a e-mail-based ticket system (e.g., ticketsupport@company-name.org). As most of our communication switched to Mattermost, the only remainder is writing mails to create a ticket.
    Therefore, it would be really convenient to send a e-mail using something like:
    /[mail-address] ["Subject"] ["Body"]
    The from address is the address used by Mattermost.

  6. Easier method for allowing admins to include custom themes

    Currently deploying a Mattermost instance with custom themes (for instance, company-branded colours) requires manually patching https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-webapp.

    Admins should be able to deploy Mattermost and specify custom themes in place of the existing ones (or an addition to the existing ones) without having to patch mattermost-webapp. This could be done in a number of ways (e.g. configuration or being stored in the database), but should persist across version upgrades.

    Additionally it would be ideal if admins could specify the default theme for users, as well as having full control over the list of themes available.

  8. Allow user registration in mobile app

    With 2021 and all the discussions on online privacy and their violations thereof by the big corporations going on, Mattermost has become all the more important.

    It is disheartening to see that the mobile app still does not have the ability to register users.

  9. Use the setAppBadge API

    Show the count of unread messages/notifications as a badge in browsers that support it. Installing Mattermost as a PWA would be closer to native apps if it used the setAppBadge/clearAppBadge APIs.

  10. Allow administrators to set emoji aliases

    I've run in to several emoji that use a non-standard name in Mattermost, which I've found to be very confusing. One prime example is that the "party popper" emoji (as it's known on many other platforms) is called "tada" in Mattermost. I'd love to be able to set an alias of party_popper for this.

    Hello,

    I would like to have the possibility that channels whether private or public can be permanently deleted by system administrators.
    So you can save resources in the database and keep a better overview of the remaining channels.

  14. Checkbox group as an element for interactive dialog

    Hi,

    We’re using the interactive dialog and it is wonderful.

    However, there’s one interface that would make it perfect: checkbox groups.

    Right now checkboxes are independent elements. It would be nice if we could have a checkbox group as an element where we could define the minimum and the maximium number of checkboxes that should be checked on that group.

    In Element, they have option to choose how messages are being displayed.

    2. Message without Bubble (They call it Modern)

    Not everyone is a fan of Modern Design, especially legacy people.

  16. Give each channel in the sidebar a badge that displays the number of "unread messages" in that channel

    Add an option such that, if a channel has any unread messages, a badge will appear in the sidebar for that channel that indicates the number of unread messages. For my team, there can be a lot of activity across at least a handful of channels. It'd be amazing if a badge could appear next to each channel when there are unread messages so that I know how many there are in that channel. It'd be super helpful for triaging messages.   17. Expose message edit histories

    If users are given the ability to edit their messages, it is useful, at least for moderators and admins, to be able to see what their previous messages were. This is so that disputes between users can be resolved, where a user responds to a message that is subsequently edited to change the context and meaning of the response.

  18. Don't show 'More' channels if none are available

    Currently, the channel list will show 'More...' as the last item in the list.

    If there are no further channels created in the team, then this item performs no function other than to confuse users. New channels are obviously created by using the '+' icon at the top of the channel list.

  19. Ability to export all of a specific user's content when required for compliance

    In corporate environments it is sometimes necessary on legal grounds to check an employees communication. Usually the management asks the IT therefor to deliver ones communication. Currently an administrator is neither able to view the existing private chats from any user nor is there an export function to extract all users content from the database

  20. give one click option to fully delete a message

    give option to delete all trace of the message deleted, or replace with "this message was deleted" text. Right now, if you want to delete your last message, you have to his up arrow, cmd-a, delete, enter, enter (to delete), then click on the X
