Add option to show nickname or username (never real name)
There's no way to show the nickname or the username (if no nick is set)
- In Account Settings -> Display -> Teammate Name Display
You can choose to see the username, the first and last names or nickname falling-back to First and Last name, but there's no one to give priority to nickname over the username.
So, add an item such as "Show nickname if one exists, otherwise show username"
In the way that the first and last names are never shown, unless required.

I have submitted an issue on github and started a thread on Mattermost about this option integration.
Supposedly the review for this to be a Help Wanted feature is to be prioritized.
I'd like to be approved as a contributor to help with integrating this into a future version of Mattermost.

Added issue for this as this is a critical feature we would like to have in the Amateur Radio community with FCC license Call Signs.
