  1. Add a Windows universal app so that Windows 10 Mobile rollouts can use Mattermost

Let's go Windows Universal with this, and bring Mattermost to a whole new market of Windows 10 Mobile users who're waiting for first party apps for apps just like this. Then Mattermost truly becomes a Slack competitor.

    • make threads collapsible

A toggle option so that threads appear as "N comments" and open in the side-panel, so they do not interrupt the main flow of the channel, and you can follow each thread mode easily.

      • Keep red-dot-notifications in tray when receiving a message with MM-client in background

Found behavior (Windows 10): MM-client is in the background (e.g. when reading stuff in another window) and I receive a direct message, then the red dot in the tray appears just to disappear directly after, IF the last opened channel was the one where I got the message. Somehow the app doesn't recognize that it is not in focus and thinks the message has been read.
Due to this we missed some communication as we "lose" red circles indicating new messages. Tried several notification-configurations but no luck so far.
Thanks a lot for helpful ideas or a fix!

        • Preprovision native client apps

As i'm rolling out the native Windows client to a lot of users (via windows software distribution) i'd like to be able to pre-provision the app with our mattermost servers url (and maybe other settings). It would be great if the client would support some way of getting it's initial configuration for example via a config file distributed with it.
I've posted it to the windows category but i guess this would be nice (and just as easy to implement) on every platform. Mobile apps might be more difficult though.

          • Desktop Notification should allow to answer right away (Desktop App, macOS)

On macOS, Desktop Notifications can offer a "Reply" Button in order to allow a user to answer to a message right from the received notification, which is very handy. I wish to have this feature in the Mattermost Desktop app as some of my users have used Hipchat before and they complain this feature is not available in Mattermost.

              • Build a thread system similar to Twist

As plenty of companies around there we find Slack/Mattermost a bit too chatty at times. More importantly, it sometimes makes it really hard to follow discussion around a specific topic. For now we have two choices :

                1. Create a specific channel around a topic. But you can start to have a lot of channels really fast
                2. Use "threads". But to be frank threads implementation is really lacking and not practical for complex discussions

A new player,https://twistapp.com/, has an interesting take on this problem. Real time channels still exists, but there is another category of channels, entirely…

                • Allow reordering teams in desktop application

There seems to be no way to reorder the teams in the desktop application (the order within the tab strip at tthe top of the application window), other than deleting and re-adding the teams in the desired order. It would be useful to be able to reorder the teams in the settings by dragging, or directly in the tab strip.

                  • Release RPM packages for those on rpm-based systems

I recently switched to fedora and now i can't install the mattermost desktop app using rpm - because there's no rpm package.

Thus I suggest you also release a rpm package (thanks to electron-builder this should be a pretty easy task)

                    • Open attached image in browser

When trying to view attached images at their full resolution, having to save the image, find where you saved it, and then open it there is quite clunky.

It would be better to open the attached image in a browser, users can right click save it from there, and it can easily be maximized there

It would be most helpful if you could record a voice message directly from the desktop app.

                        • Touchbar integration

How about adding touchbar integration for the latest Macbook Pros? This is one thing that HipChat had that was quite useful - could be used for emoji search, setting away/dnd status, etc.

                          • Try to use less CPU / energy in native Mac App

Right now the Mattermost native Mac app is using a lot of CPU, pretty consistently over 10%, which seems really high for an app of this type. What could it possibly be doing to use that much CPU? The energy impact is almost up there with known battery drainers like Chrome and Firefox. I know it's a beta, so please consider this some beta-user feedback. Thanks!

                              • CTRL+F on Windows Desktop app puts cursor in Mattermost search box filtered to channel

In the browser CTRL+F brings up text search for the page, so propose in the Windows Desktop app CTRL+F brings up Mattermost search pre-filtered to the channel to have a similar effect.

Other than the ability to search a page, the browser and desktop app have almost the same functionality.

Adding this would make the experiences more equivalent, rather than having desktop just slightly degraded.

                                      • Open channels and direct messages in different windows (Desktop apps)

Right now we use Mattemost for communication about projects and Spark/Jabber/XMPP for direct messages. The reason we prefer Spark over Mattermost is that we can have each communication in a different app window and that makes it easier if you communicate with more people at once. Typical use case is that you send a question to your colleague and keep the window open until you get the answer.

                                        • Add more colors of notification dots, and let users set a color for each channel

This will make MM much less distracting since it's easier to ignore chatter on "less important" channels.
