  1. Ability to upload videos with size over 50mb

In the iOS application, you need to be able to choose the degree of video compression at startup. This is necessary so that you can compress videos and upload them. Now, when you try to upload a video clip, the video is primarily compressed, but since the compression algorithms are not good enough, the video still weighs too much and cannot be uploaded. Please fix it.

  2. Allow alternative iOS storage for photos / videos

When taking a photo via the Mattermost application, it defaults to saving the photo to the camera roll which will then get backed up to iCloud. In most cases is awesome. However, if you are looking to keep data separate, it would be nice if we had the option to have photos taken in the app, stay in the app.

  3. Make it possible to wrap a mobile application using MobileIron sdk/portal (not AppConfig)

    https://info.mobileiron.com/rs/mobileiron/images/appconnect_faq.pdf

We tried to wrap the application for android through the mobile iron wrap portal. But it crashed on launch.

  4. Private metadata on mobile notifications

My organization is using Mattermost heavily, and we'd like to receive mobile notifications to make it more useful. However, currently Mattermost shares a lot of metadata with Apple's and Google's servers:

    https://docs.mattermost.com/mobile/mobile-faq.html#what-post-metadata-is-sent-in-mobile-push-notifications

This is preventing us from enabling notifications.

I'd like to suggest that you treat the Apple and Google push notification services just as a "wake up" signal, without including user ID, team ID, etc. The mobile app would then connect (via TLS) to its server, download any new messages, and generate local notifications based on those.

I recently spoke with someone on the Mattermost team who suggested that…

  5. Improve the inline display of attached photos on mobile

The current image display on iPhone with the file properties listed to the side of the image doesn't allow the user to really see what the image is. Instead, the user must click the image every time. The current format gives more emphasis to the image properties than it does the image. When typically the user really only cares about seeing the image.

It would dramatically improve usability if it functioned similar to the web app/browser. Display a fullwidth image with the file name on a separate row above it.

  6. IOS/Android local notifications

Use local notifications when the app is running or in background. I know that encrypted push notifications are supported when using the enterprise version, but it would be very handy if the app would support local notifications when running in background or foreground for new messages.
This creates the ability to use the app without sending data around the world.

  7. LaTeX equation rendering in mobile app

LaTeX is integrated in a very useful way in the desktop app (Linux and MacOS as far as I can see). However, on iOS as well as Android LaTeX appears as a code snippet. Unfortunately, I cannot offer to contribute this feature myself, but I would highly appreciate equation rendering also in the mobile app.

  9. Enable pasting images into text bar for the iOS app.

Right now you cannot paste images into the text bar with the iOS app. This makes it difficult to share images by copying and pasting rather than saving and inserting. If I have an image in my clipboard, I would like to be able to long press in the text entry bar to trigger the paste button. This would then add the image to the text where I could review and either send or remove it.

  10. Enable the Mattermost mobile app for Intune app protection policies

Microsoft provides an SDK to enable app protection policies to be applied via Intune. Adding this functionality would be a huge benefit for clients that leverage Intune as their MDM and have data protection requirements that prevent data transfer between managed and non-managed apps.

    More information available here:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/app-sdk

  11. Adjust font size in mobile app

The font size in the Mattermost application is too small. It is possible to change the font size of iOS itself at the present time. But it will change include the entire UI. I want to change the font size of characters only in the posting part. It is also good to automatically adjust the font size according to the amount of characters. I want you to be able to adjust the font size at the very least.

  13. Implement Support to "Share" Feature

most of the social apps have “Share” feature. There are two ways. “Share From Mattermost To …” and “Share From … To Mattermost”

Those allow integration between apps and make it easier to add messages and links to Mattermost.

    Cheers

  14. Allow MFA Push Notification Approval for Apps such as DUO

Currently If you approve an MFA push notification from the same screen it works but if you open the MFA app to approve the authentication is goes back to the login page. We have tried it on Android and IOS devices. Can you please add this as a feature? They have a free version of DUO for 10 users you can do testing. https://duo.com/pricing/duo-free 1

  15. Support keyboard shortcuts on iOS

As on the desktop, keyboard shortcuts are a huge improvement regarding efficiency and usability.

iPads are more and more used with keyboards and Apple provides an easy way to add keyboards shortcuts to an app.
So it would be great if without touching the iPad screen we could :
    - Switch to a channel/conversation (jump to)
    - Send a message
    - Search in the team
    - Switch between teams

    Thanks

  17. Make visual indications of new messages more pronounced

The current indication for the Mac client is a hardly distinguishable blue dot for the team and a hardly distinguishable whiter color for the channel. It's nice and muted, but I had to really look hard before I found what to look for for unread messages. I suggest a slightly more pronounced way of indicating unread messages for teams and channels.

  18. iOS and Android apps should allow multiple server connections

right now in the iOS app if you setup an instance I do not see a way to setup another one and seeing as how the current architecture of the product is, I would need multiple servers for my org's needs. the app should be able to handle it as well.

Thanks everyone for all the upvotes, the feature is now planned. We’re exploring design options for supporting multiple servers on the mobile apps here: https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-11067

We have also opened a channel to discuss supporting multiple servers in the mobile app, as we understand this is a highly requested feature. Everyone is welcome to join the channel and participate in the discussion: https://community.mattermost.com/core/channels/rn-multi-server-suppot

  19. iOS and Android apps should allow users to bypass certificate warning

iOS and Android apps should allow users to bypass certificate warning. Some of us don't have proper certs and use the application for small teams, and don't have the resources to get proper web certificates.

  20. Use Safari view controller to view links in app

Tapping a link shared in Mattermost currently throws you out of the app and into Safari. I would be preferable to use Safari View Controller1 to show the link inside the app.
