  1. Image preview blacklist

    Image Preview: Add a site blacklist to prevent image previews from selected sites.

    Example: Someone can set up private repositories on github that aren't visible to users that aren't logged in and aren't members of the organization. Link preview currently creates a preview of the root github page. This is pretty annoying when you're sharing links to pull requests with coworkers.

  2. Allow aliases for custom emojis

    The name field of custom emoji only allows a single word, whereas system emojis have multiple aliases. Would be good if name could be provided as a comma-separated list to be used as aliases, internally.

  3. Implement ~{channel_name} Feature for Private Channels and Direct Messages

    The current ~{channel_name} feature only works for public channels.

    As of now, users are able to obtain the URL of the private through the "View Info" feature.

    Another option is to right click the room name on the channel list and click "Copy Link".

    It will be good to standardize the feature across all types of channels to for a better user experience.

  5. Change iOS notification sound

    On the iOS platform there doesn’t appear to be a way to customize the sound made for a new message alert. And worse still, it makes a rather generic default iPhone “ding” sound that just disappears among all the other noise my phone constantly makes.

    It would be really ideal if that sound can either be changeable by the user, or at least unique enough to be easily recognized (think the tweet sound from the twitter app for example).

    A way to achieve this could be by exposing a settings configuration option that allows the user to choose from sounds…

    Like Whatsapp have Mattermost banners schow on Carplay and have it read out messages aloud and being able to dictate replies.

  8. Add line numbers to code blocks

    We would like code posted in messages to have a syntax highlighter for different programming languages (we would be interested in bash, php, css, html etc. Having line numbers would also be nice so when discussing code you can easily know what line you are talking about.

  9. New Channel Announcements

    When people create new channels within a team, it would be great to have a popup that shows team members within the channel a screen something like "New Channels created since your last visit, refresh, etc..."

    What we are finding is people are creating new channels within Teams, yet no one knows about them unless they click on the More link within the team.

  10. Image preview: size lightbox on image width and not height

    Lightbox on image preview have a scrolling bar, but I'm pretty sure that CSS on image lightbox mentionned height:auto

    So we can't preview a long image.

  11. Prevent non-admin users to rename channels

    I'm aware of your business model and I'm fine with an advanced permissions system in the paid edition. I'm also aware that you carefully thought through the channel management for basic users (see https://github.com/mattermost/platform/issues/1764) and think it's a good way of approaching things.

    But please, consider removing the ability for every one to rename channels. This is not useful, doesn't really make sense and more importantly leaves the ability for anyone to ruin a setup (prank or sabotage). It also gives a feeling of totally uncontrolled environment for these users.

    This small feature makes me question the entire usage…

  13. Have favourite channels visible from other teams

    Private messages and their favourites are visible regardless of team. It would be nice if favourite channels are also available from any team, regardless of the team they belong to. This would make communication across teams faster and easier.

    Upload a zip of emojis, use the filename as the :emoji:. Parrot party follows this format. Or multi select files and upload them all at once.

  15. Prevent users from posting ineffective @mentions while editing a post

    At the moment, there is no indication whether a mention will be "effective" (i. e. it will actually trigger notifications).
    This lead to confusion among our users, who intended to trigger a mention by editing an existing post, what - of course - currently doesn't work.

    There are two possible solutions to this:

    1) Show users a warning, when their @mention will not have any effect
    This could be along the lines of: "You can't trigger @mentions by editing an existing post. Please write a new post if you want to mention someone."

    2) Make edits trigger mentions

  16. Mark Channel as "Read Only" so it remains searchable but nothing new can be posted

    I often find myself searching old mattermost channels for discussion items, but many of the channels are no longer in use due to a project ending or a team getting re-org'd.

    It would be cool to have a Read Only or Inactive or Abandoned mode for those channels so I can still search for previous discussions, but they won't get written to anymore.

  17. There should a 'Buzz' for alert

    There should be a 'Buzz' to alert the other user. Like, Spark, Yahoo.

    Sometimes we have messaged to another user. But user is busy on another task. He/She missed the messages which is very important.

    In this case, the user should have a 'Buzz' button or shortcut for alert to someone. I hope everyone knows about the importance of 'Buzz'. :)

  18. Snooze channel for 1h, 8hrs or 24hhrs

    It would be nice to be able to mute a channel for a set period of time then it automatically unmute itself. Facebook Messenger has a similar feature called Snooze.

  20. Provide an alternative to websockets for updates

    Websockets don't work properly behind a squid proxy. It would be great to have a swap-in replacement for them that doesn't require patching Mattermost! Currently we cannot use Mattermost because of this issue, even though the installation itself is fine, because we're keeping it internal to the VPN that squid is running on.
