Add line numbers to code blocks
We would like code posted in messages to have a syntax highlighter for different programming languages (we would be interested in bash, php, css, html etc. Having line numbers would also be nice so when discussing code you can easily know what line you are talking about.

We had added line numbers at one point, but then removed them after some internal discussion so that we could allow more horizontal space for content. It's something we've meant to revisit, but we haven't gotten to it yet because of other priorities.

In documentation screenshots there is line numbers, but in real Mattermost installation there isn't. Why?

Syntax highlighting is available starting in v1.2.1. Updated the title of this feature request to focus on adding line numbers.
