  1. Add functionality to automatically add new users to a team

    A lot of new users are unfamiliar with / confused by teams. So they don't select one, and then can't post anything, and an admin has to manually add them. There should be an easy way for all new users to be automatically added to a team.

  2. Integrate with push message gcm and register new users using phone number and SMS confirmation.

    The idea is to cloning WhatsApp.
    So, login using phone number + password
    SMS to user in order to verify the phone number
    Push messages with Google and apple.

  3. add support for syslog output

    It's a pain to deal with many scattered logfiles, so syslog support would be a welcome alternative.
    The only extra configuration despite enabling, and the loglevel should be the syslog facility.

  7. Customize search clause for fulltext search

    Currently search clause for fulltext is using "@@" operator for PostgreSQL with tsvector/tsquery. But I would like to use "LIKE" operator with re-generated index for better search using language specific algorithm(e.g. Japanese).

    Now search clause template is "@@ %s". I would like to replace it to "LIKE %s" or "LIKE func(%s)".

  8. Jump to new message

    In case of a new message it would be great if the application/ web interface would directly jump to the contact who sent the message.
    Actually you get the notification and need to click on the marked contact to see the new message.

    This should be optional.

  9. We need "(managerable) Closed Public Channel / Nonstealth private group"

    as we like the style of discussion coming up to several topics, a lot customers we work with, make us work with an NDA. So we are not allowed to discuss work related stuff with people, that did not sign this NDA. Ok. We could go with Private Groups. BUT: this is invite only.     Mattermost seems to log all user IP as a default.
    Maybe it would be a nice option to opt-out per user or system wide the logging of all IP addresses.

    Custom intro text for a system, team or channel, similar in set up to Custom Tutorial Text with markdown support and preview, that is displayed to a user when joining a specific system, team or channel, and the user needs to hit "Okay" to dismiss. The user should be able to find the message in the system, team or channel settings to review the info.

  14. Make visual indications of new messages more pronounced

    The current indication for the Mac client is a hardly distinguishable blue dot for the team and a hardly distinguishable whiter color for the channel. It's nice and muted, but I had to really look hard before I found what to look for for unread messages. I suggest a slightly more pronounced way of indicating unread messages for teams and channels.

  15. Allow us to make the window smaller on desktop without collapsing the sidebar.

    Sidebar needs to be able to be resizable and we should be able to make the window smaller with the sidebar still showing. There is a lot of empty space.

    I can search easily for a group name on iPhone, but there is not the same convenient matching feature on macOS. Also on iPhone, I see all unread messages at top of list, on macOS I have to scan the whole list to find unread messages. So the macOS client needs to catch up with the iPhone.

  17. Google MFA Authenticator subject should be the URL not just "Mattermost"

    Summary

    When using "Scan barcode" to automatically configure Google Authenticator for MFA the subject is always "Mattermost".

    Steps to reproduce

    1. Enable LDAP.
    2. Enable Multi-factor authentication.
    3. When a user scans the barcode to configure Google Authenticator the subject of the account is always Mattermost.
    4. If you use couple of instances of Mattermost (example test+prod) you can't distinguish which code to use and can't login to Mattermost.

    Expected behavior

    1. The subject of the account should be the url of the Mattermost instance you are configuring MFA for.

  18. Sending payload in »application/json« for slash commands

    Almost all integrations in Mattermost send or receive payloads with a »application/json« content type. Incoming Webhooks, Outgoing Webhooks (configurable, see ticket https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/1649), Interactive Message Buttons… but not »Slash Commands«. Slash Commands are the only integration type, which sends it payload as »application/x-www-form-urlencoded«. Please allow sending a slash command with »application/json«.

  19. Add support for Adaptive Icons on Android 8

    Android 8 introduced a featured called Adaptive Icons; it lets users pick the shape of icons on their home screen. Supporting this is extremely easy, and only requires 4 lines of XML code. Please add support for this feature in a future release.
