  1. Add a file download progress bar

You constantly need to check Explorer to see if file has finished downloaded or not, very bothersome. A progress bar / download indicator will be very helpful.

  2. Voice Messages Record and Play

The same way we can send messages, we should be able to send voice messages.

It should be as simple as click "add voice", record what you want, press send and it's made available on the server for others to listen.

It should be supported by browser and mobile client apps.

  3. User should be able to archive a thread

    Summary (Feature Request)

As a Mattermost user (Manager/Admin of channel)

I would like to close some discussion which is not needed anymore in the main channel (have been resolved)

so that I can reduce the content noise in the channel content in the channel by displaying relevant content.

    Observed behavior (that appears unintentional)

In any channel where there are a lot of people, there is always much noise. I would like to archive those threads which are not needed anymore and display the relevant content in the main view.

Usually, it might be discussions which end with some result/agreement, but…

  4. Add badge for new messages that's visible in a pinned tab.

When you've pinned a tab on your browser the badge that appears to show new messages within the client isn't visible. At best you have to hover to see a (*) that denotes new messages.

There should be an immediately visible badge on a pinned tab for unread messages.

  6. CMD/CTRL+K should use fuzzy find methodology

When you are using cmd+k to find a channel or person, it would be nice if it used a fuzzy find searching mechanism.

    Example:
    trying to find person a.lastName
searching: "alast" doesn't find anything currently since it requires you search "a.last"

  7. Notificiation settings per server

If using Mattermost with more than one Server it would be great if the user could have separate notification settings or the option to mute one or more selected servers.

  8. Support multiple AD/LDAP domains

Currently Mattermost supports AD/LDAP integration to a single AD/LDAP domain. The proposal is for the integration to support multiple AD/LDAP domains.

We have an open ticket for it in our backlog, and this feature proposal is to gauge how popular this feature would be among our user base.

    https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-5751

Note that you can currently configure Mattermost deployments with multiple AD/LDAP domains using a forest structure: https://docs.mattermost.com/deployment/sso-ldap.html#configure-ad-ldap-deployments-with-multiple-domains

  10. Use Gitlab's API to provide metadata for private resources

Gitlab projects are more often than not shielded off into private repos.
Given that Mattermost easily installs along with Gitlab (using the Omnibus installer, just by providing the url mattermost can listen on) it would make a lot of sense to have that info there; instead of a very unhelpful & confusing "Sign in" metadata

  11. LaTeX equation rendering in mobile app

LaTeX is integrated in a very useful way in the desktop app (Linux and MacOS as far as I can see). However, on iOS as well as Android LaTeX appears as a code snippet. Unfortunately, I cannot offer to contribute this feature myself, but I would highly appreciate equation rendering also in the mobile app.

  12. Closing UI for direct messages in the channel list

Mobile app for Android dose not have close UI of direct message channel in channel list. Browser and Windows client have it.
This feature should be useful when maintaining the channel list if many direct messages are opened.

  13. Enable Team invite link when account creation is set to false for private teams

Team invite link is not available when account creation is set to false.
Inviting users manually via email is tedious, it would be easy if the team invite link is available.

  14. API rate limiting whitelist

It would be really helpful to be able to specify a whitelist of IPs or accounts that can bypass the API rate limit. For instance, I use the API to batch-create lots of user accounts, which generates a high volume of requests. Yet, I don't want to allow such a big volume for any user account/IP address, just for sysops and localhost. Would this be possible?

  15. Custom date display setting in users Account settings

It would be nice if users (for example for languages that are not yet translated for Mattermost) could change the format of the date in their apps like they can now change the time appearance. For example short date would be very nice option for many european languages like "dd.mm.yyyy" or even "d.m.yyyy" or "d.m.yy" (year wih two digits only).

  16. Share messages between private conversations

    Hello,
it could be very usefull to have the possibility to share ones private message to another private user or to a channel; instead of copy and paste it.

  17. Delete messages from a channel to clean it

    Hello,

in the case a channel is used to receive notifications in a defined interval, messages are bound to multiply and to be too numerous.

So i think it should be interesting to delete the messages from a channel by the creator of this channel or by a webhook.

  19. Configurable default value of "Display Clock" 12-hour or 24-hour

Currently the default Display Clock for a new user is set to 12-hour clock.
In Europe we use the 24-hour clock for the most of us.
We therefore propose to make it possible to set the default "DisplayClock" in the config.json file.
In the "bulk-loading-data-format" it can be specified that "usemilitarytime" should be used. That is what we would like in the config.json

  20. Add optional custom headers to slash command requests

I have recently implemented a small custom slash command for our company, that makes a GET request to an AWS API Gateway resource, baked by an AWS Lambda function. This is a very conventient way to implement simple, for lack of a better, less overused term, microservices in a serverless environment.

One limitation with this approach is that to secure such a API Gateway + Lambda service, AWS relies on API keys, which have to be sent in the form of a custom request header X-API-Key, lest we implement yet another separate Lambda function to serve as the so called…
