  1. make threads collapsible

    A toggle option so that threads appear as "N comments" and open in the side-panel, so they do not interrupt the main flow of the channel, and you can follow each thread mode easily.

    Collapsed Reply Threads is now in General Availability!

    Thanks to everyone who has upvoted this feature! With Mattermost version 7.0, Collapsed Reply Threads (our most requested feature ever) is now available for all! System Admins can now enable the feature by default for all users (always_on or default_on).

  2. iOS and Android apps should allow multiple server connections

    right now in the iOS app if you setup an instance I do not see a way to setup another one and seeing as how the current architecture of the product is, I would need multiple servers for my org's needs. the app should be able to handle it as well.

    The Mobile v2.0 beta featuring multi-server support is now live!

    Our most-requested mobile feature ever is now live via the Mobile v2.0 beta - thanks to everyone who has upvoted this feature! Users must opt-in to become testers via Testflight (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download the “Mattermost Beta” app. Please note that this is a separate app from the production “Mattermost” app that exists in the app stores today, meaning you can use both at the same time.

    Introducing Voice Calling and Screen Sharing in Channels!

    Thanks to everyone who has upvoted this feature. We're excited to announce voice calling and screen sharing is available in beta with Mattermost v7.0. Whether it's a quick call for when something is easier to talk through than type out, recurring office hours, a timely screen share to demo something, or a several day war room discussion to fix a critical issue - there's tons great use cases for voice calls in Mattermost that don't require leaving the ecosystem.

    Interested in trying it out? You'll need to upgrade to Mattermost v7.0 and as a beta feature, it must be enabled by your server's System Administrator. You can learn more in our release blog, and can direct any feedback or questions to feature channel.

  4. Support different options for sorting the channels in the sidebar

    Now the contacts (Direct messages) are always sorted alphabetically. It would be great to have different options of sorting. What we like the most is sorting by last message recieved/sent, which means on top we always have our most recent conversation (like in Skype)
    Any chance to have it in future?

  5. Remind me Later

    Slack offers a very cool possibility: you can ask the bot to remind you of a message after some time.

    This is extremely useful when you post a message which requires some reaction by some other users - if (unfortunately) no reaction comes, it is very easy to forget about the question, which will not happen if you set a reminder!

    That would be a very nice feature to add to mattermost

  6. Add sub-channels/groups or folders

    With a lot of groups/channels ,the sidebar becomes very cluttered. A collapsable hierachy with sub-channels/groups would be great.

    Or, easier to implement I guess, the ability to group channels/private groups into folders.

  7. Status labels

    The idea:

    One can set their status to some arbitrary text, which will be shown next to your username.

    Details:

    /status My new status

    can be used to change your status, it will then appear next to your screen name in replies:

    Why:

    It is incredibly useful to be able to see what your team mates are working on. Currently, our team are using a channel for this, but it's pretty inconvinient and quickly gets very messy.…

  8. mobile client SSL authentication

    It would be greate to add client SSL authentication support in Android application (and other mobile application that don't use a regular browser).

  9. History of shared files in a channel

    Would be lovely to view the files that have been shared in a channel. This would go neatly with the idea of pinning posts as well. You could be able to pin files.

  11. Support OpenID Connect

    I've been waiting for a project like Mattermost for a while, so thanks!

    I would love it if you would add support for account registration/signin via OpenID Connect. I'd like to set up a Mattermost server for my community, but we use OpenID Connect to add SSO to everything.

  12. Allow users to choose the Teammate Name Display option

    From version 4.0 the Teammate Name Display option is an administrator only option for the reasons explained at https://forum.mattermost.org/t/switching-teammate-name-display-to-a-system-console-setting/3366

    Please add another option in the System Console under Users and Teams "Allow users to choose Teammate Name Display" which allows users to choose how to display users' names in posts and the Direct Messages list.

    We understand that the name in the push notification would not reflect an individual user's preferences; this would be totally fine for us (but it probably should be mentioned in the description text of the new option).

  14. EE: Data retention and prune/reset/clear channel content options

    For compliance, add the ability to delete specific messaging entries from the user interface, including:

    • Clear a specific channel of all its content
    • Delete all posts from a specific user
    • Delete all posts from a specific user in a specific channel
    • Delete all posts from/before/after a specific date
    • Configure a data retention time

  16. Install Mattermost in a Subdirectory

    We are using HAProxy and multiple subdirectories as internal redirects, to consolidate services.

    Right now, Mattermost assumes it is being install at the root of a fully qualified domain name, so moving it anywhere breaks multiple paths for many files.

    It would be much more valuable for teams to be able to deploy to "http://www.example.com/chat" instead of always resorting to "http://chat.example.com/".

  17. Team icon

    Ability to upload a team icon, and show it on the team select page.

    Also, it would be nice to show them on the desktop app tabs.

  19. Display most recent conversations on top

    On the sidebar, it would be useful if the most recent conversations were displayed on top. As for now I have to delete channels so I dont have to scroll all day long.

  20. Pinned posts

    It'd be great to be able to pin a post within a channel (although maybe only the channel owner?). I used the description of a channel to include an overview and a list of links to helpful resources, but the channel description only shows one line of text next to the title until you hover over it, which isn't the most intuitive.
