What our teams are still missing in Mattermost (Desktop app) is a quick way to open a file and/or jump to its containing folder.

The current behavior is cumbersome - we need to:

1. click the download icon
2. specify a location to save the file
3. manually open the above location in file explorer
4. find the file

A panel with all files in a given channel would be a very helpful feature. Currently I'm using the "pin post" option as a workaround.

Moreover an "open containing folder" option would be extremely helpful once we download a file.

I think these votes of two posing should be added together! It's very ESSENTIAL function.

HipChat has the ability to view both Files and Links that have been shared in a channel. Given the mass exodus which is about to occur for HipChat users due to lack of Atlassian support, I would hope Mattermost would prioritize missing features compared to HipChat.

We are a current client stuck in the turmoil of Atlassian forgetting about their on-premise customers. So for Mattermost has 95% of the same features/look/feel as HipChat. Two essential missing features are: 1. List of files in a conversatoin and 2. List of links/urls in a conversation.

I'm surprised myself how useful I have found these features when going back to files/references someone has posted in the past.

Absolutely agree on media library support. Our team would love to have it.

I'd love to see media archiving being included. It's been one of the key features that has been keeping me away from this platform over something like Slack or Discord.

I work with a team of artists and coders that currently use Slack. As a coder I didn't realize it was a big deal, but in my test run of Mattermost, I've had 2 of the artists come back to me raving about how "essential" a media library/upload history is. In our use case, one of the artists does concept art for the projects, and the other artists like being able to just browse that artists history as a quick way of finding concept art.

The most similar feature I'm aware of is the Media library on Twitter. I do tend to use this sometimes as a faster way of browsing history (my uploaded media).

It is great to have attachments stored with the channel. But is still cumbersome to find them. It will be nice to have a tab, per channel, to show attachments. One tab shows conversation, another one summarizes just on the attachments.
This is beyond the ability to "search" for attachments. By having a tab, all attachments will be available right away.
I'm evaluating MS Teams and they have this feature and it's very nice. (We're not likely moving to Teams because they don't have slash commands...yet)

Can we expect an update on this one?

As Juan mentioned, the corresponding JIRA ticket was closed though this request is "under review". Could you give us any updates?

That seems to be a killer feature indeed. We really need a way to get that, in the client or at least having an entry in the api to get all the files for a channel or a team.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I saw the Jira ticket is marked fixed and closed, yet does not implement the feature request described here. Instead, it refers to an alternative solution through elasticsearch, without giving further information. The docs don't seem to mention anything about searching for attachments either.

It's still unclear to me how to list all attachments of a given channel.

Is this coming soon? Using slack right now and it has this feature.. waiting for it to change to matter most.
