Saving servers with names
It would help if the servers stay stored so I dont need to enter it all the time when I disconnect.
I dont want to be always online or invisible, just disconnected. But when I want to return, I have to type in the link to the server and it's name.

Can you provide an example of how to use the "if" statement in Python to create a simple conditional statement?

@group request function for boards
In boards, there is a function to put an @username in the comments section which will notify the user their action is required on that board. However the board does not allow you to @usergroup or a specific channel. I am requesting 2 possible functions. 1. enable the ability to @usergroup so we don't need to @ specific users which may change out often. or 2. enable @ for a specific channel in the comments section of a board to send notifications to a channel that a new/existing board is requesting their attention. This will cut down the inundating task…

Mute message
I hope there's a feature where I can choose whether to notify the recipient or participants in a thread when sending a post. This is because sending messages might occur during non-working hours or when the recipient is taking a break. Simply put, the purpose is to avoid disturbing the other person.
Some common practices currently involve scheduling messages to be sent at a future time. However, this means having to constantly reconfigure each message.
Having a feature that allows messages to be sent quietly, without triggering notifications to the recipient, would be relatively convenient and user-friendly. Nevertheless, even messages…

Make text selectable in images
In macOS Monterey and later, you can select text in screenshots and other images in e.g. Preview.app. When people paste screenshots of user interfaces etc. on Mattermost, and I want to copy & paste some text from it, then I have to first right-click the image and select "Copy Image", then switch to Preview.app, paste the image there, and then select and copy, and switch back to Mattermost to paste the text. This requires more steps then necessary, and is not very discoverable, leading many to simply not know they can copy text from screenshots.
If one limits the feature…

Bigger writing screen for the mobile app
Dear Mattermost team
In the mobile app when answering to a message, the reply writing screen is only 3 lines wide … whereas received message takes all the screen.
Why this choice ?
Do we need in priority to read constantly the received message or to be very focused on our reply ?Let’s make the reply writing screen full screen for the confort of writing.
Thanks
Arno

Close dms directly when clicking to another area (settings opt-in)
Other messenger services offer a user setting where you can hide direct message instances from the left sidebar once you have clicked into it and then clicked to another dm or channel. It would appear again if the person sent you a new message. You can bypass this by pinning or favoriting that user so they always stay in the DM list.
I prefer this system so that the DM area acts as an 'inbox' only, where I can glance and see things that need my attention. Having 10-40 inactive entries is just clutter, esp. on smaller device screen heights…

Add options for date format display: eg "Monday June 10" instead of "June 10" as headline in channels
Make channels more scannable when catching up on large backlog of messages -- it would be easier to quickly understand if messages are grouped under on a channel included date name as well as month name and date numeral. So create options for format of date displayed within channels. Specifically to include day name.

Put a timer on Banners
We use time-sensitive banners to inform users of ongoing events. If we don't manually disable them, they will run past the event. Could we put an end time on banners, the way that there are end times on statuses?

Increase smiley size
Dear team,
As the smiley size is ridiculously low, it could be useful to add a new parameter settings for increase or decrease the smiley size value.

Ability to Search only DMs
I would like to search only DMs and exclude searching the channels. In most scenarios, I would have had a conversation with a few people on DMs. I would like to be able to quickly find those conversations without searching in any channels.
I see https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost/issues/7762 has been closed. But the dependent PR has been merged - https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-webapp/pull/189.
So I would love the see this idea getting implemented.

Thread Profile Icon
I hope you can set the profile icon to appear on all posts regardless of timing.
By the way, Rocket.Chat groups in 300 seconds by default.
It seems that you can change the number of seconds that are grouped.1 vote -
MPNS: Introduce token-based authentication to APNs
https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost/issues/28874
Currently, push proxy only supports certificate-based connections to APNs. Description is available at https://docs.mattermost.com/deploy/mobile-hpns.html#host-your-own-push-proxy-service
Token-based authentication to APNs should be used in MPNS: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/usernotifications/establishing-a-token-based-connection-to-apns. Token-based authentication offers a stateless way to communicate with APNs. Stateless communication is faster than certificate-based communication because it doesn’t require APNs to look up the certificate, or other information, related to your provider server. There are other advantages to using token-based authentication.
