  3. Archiving direct messages

It would be great to have the possibility to archive direct messages, the same way it is possible to archive chans. Or is it already possible?

  4. Closing UI for direct messages in the channel list

Mobile app for Android dose not have close UI of direct message channel in channel list. Browser and Windows client have it.
This feature should be useful when maintaining the channel list if many direct messages are opened.

  5. Interactive buttons supporting emoji

If the text outside the interactive button is an emoji, eg. "", it gets rendered as the smile emoji. However, if this text is inside an interactive button, the test "" gets rendered.

Similarly when dealing with "£" signs, "£" renders correctly outside the button, but inside just the text is rendered.

It would be good if emoji and other HTML shortcuts could be implemented within the buttons themselves.

  6. rename flag post to bookmarked post

Users seem to expect that "Flag post" means "Report post" and do not think of it as a way to bookmark posts.

Especially as in the web-app "flag post" is not displayed along the other post-actions, but instead by the side of the posting username.

I already filed that as a github issue: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/9990

  7. Default email domain for LDAP users

There should be a option for default email domain for LDAP users.

Use case: large organizations often have multiple object trees, and some might not contain the users email address explicitly. In some cases you might have a default email domain for all users (example.com) in addition to their unit-specific (unit.example.com) domains.

For more dynamic settings like a Django settings.py you might to able to specify that the email address of an users is their uid + the default email domain of your organization, but when that's not the case you instead relay on the settings being provided to you,…

  9. Enforce MFA as permission.

Make enforce MFA a permission so you can assign it to specific group(s).
Some businesses do want to enforce MFA for some groups and some not.

  11. Distinguishing Between Users Compact Mode

In compact view, it is difficult to tell users apart. The color of the user's name is the same as the message itself. Perhaps a smaller display image, or coloring their name. I don't even use compact view now becuase it's too hard to tell who said what.

    Thanks!

  12. Enable MFA reset through the system console

It would be nice if there were a way to reset someone's MFA configuration from the System Console instead of having to use the command line tool. For large teams, MFA devices are lost fairly frequently so it's burdensome to have to use the command line tool each time.

  14. Have the ability to hide the 'Import from Slack' option

System or team admins should have the ability to hide the 'Import from Slack' option to avoid it from being accidentally (or intentionally) triggered, especially if there are no plans to import any data from Slack

  15. Create the possibility to make unread answers more prominent

I suggest a way to make the newly received messages more prominent and pronounced.

The reason here is that my father has some issues in reading and quickly overreads new messages except for the very last one. I thought if it was ideally possible to put a e.g. reddish background to all new messages the same way as there is a tiny line with the text new message. For an image see https://forum.mattermost.org/t/how-to-make-unread-answers-more-prominent/7627.

I am thinking if such a background similar to the light gray one behind a self written message. Maybe a bit more prominent.

    Also as a…

  16. Allow users to signup without invite and also join team without invite

When open server is enabled, users can signup without invite. However when they signup they are allowed to create team, so I disabled it. Now when they sign up there is nothing. How about let them send request to join teams, and administrators can confirm.

  17. set desktop and mobile notifications for all subscribed channels in one interface

Currently, we can set desktop and mobile notifications per channel in the individual channel settings in the desktop app. Add an interface to list all, or subscribed, or favorited channels, and a checkbox to enable desktop or mobile settings for each channel. So, a user can enable or tweak notifications for all subscribed channels on the desktop, but choose all, none or just a few favorited channels for mobile notifications.

  18. Show the connection status instead of just providing an error message

When the client goes offline, which is common when laptops suspend or for corporate implementations where a VPN is required to access the server, the only feedback provided is that the server can't be reached and to get help. This is not only not an appropriate message in this case but the message stays on the screen even after the connection is re-established. Instead of showing a disconnection message I propose replacing it with a connection state indicator. Ideally when the client is offline it will obvious (like changing the color of the window) but I won't be able to…

  19. Mobile app : detect team URLs correctly

When entering the URL in the mobile app, if you include the team name in the URL, it will return an error.

For example, http://test.mattermost.com/mytest will return an error, as it only recognizes the server URL and will only accept http://test.mattermost.com.

The app should either directly redirect the user to the relevant team after logging in, or recognize the server URL regardless of the team URL and log the user into the default team.

  20. Make guest accounts expire after a set period of time

Currently guest accounts are permanent until removed by the admins.

It would be more convenient and secure if guest accounts have an automatic expiry date after a certain period of time.
