2. Check which channels are being actively used by the company (Latest comment date)

   My company has multiples teams and more than 20 channels in each of them. I am a new employee, and I have to join each channel to check if they are being used looking for the latest comment date.

   Is there a feature to order channels by the latest comment date or to filter the channel list to have only the ones that are being used?

3. Parse channel search string to allow more powerful queries

   I use the channel switcher with Ctrl+K a lot. Recently I joined two groups that have some overlapping members:

   Group X has members aa, bb, me. Group Y has members aa, cc, me.

   Now, it is quite tedious to search for them efficiently. If I search for "bb" and "cc" I will hit direct messaging with either of the two. And if I search for "aa" it is even worse: I get the two groups, plus direct messaging.

   I suggest to allow for a search expressions as follows: "a b", "a c". I expect this to find group channels where there is a member whose name contains the latter "a" and a member whose name contains the letter "b" (or "c" respectively).

   As far as I see, your current logic for matching channels is just plain substring inclusion. My suggestion would change this to first splitting by whitespace and then checking for inclusion of all tokens.

   Also take some inspiration from fzf: https://github.com/junegunn/fzf#search-syntax with an implementation at https://github.com/junegunn/fzf/blob/master/src/pattern.go

6. More Granular Session lengths for SSO authentication

   Currently the configurations for SSO authentication session lengths allow for a single digit value representing days that the authenticated session will last before expiring and forcing a re-authentication.

   There has been quite a bit of interest within my teams to have this more granular, specifically down to a number of hours (with our preference being somewhere around the length of a work day- 8hours). By doing something less than a single day, with people having varying schedules, it would guarantee that almost everyone will need to re-authenticate when coming back to work. As is, it can happy sporadically depending on when you logged in the previous day, and you may find yourself suddenly booted out.

   I’m willing to put the work in to make this possible, but I wanted to gauge interest in the community to see if this would be something likely to have a PR accepted for.

9. Disable the "More Actions" tooltip when the menu is already open

   On the [...] button on the right side of a message, there's a tooltip displaying the text "More Actions". When I click on this button, the menu pops up and then the tooltip appears, blocking the "Edit" menu item. The tooltip should never be allowed to pop up if the menu is already open.

16. Distribute Mattermost Desktop via the Mac App Store

    Hi,
    Since the Mattermost Desktop client does not include an auto-updater and the iOS version is already distributed on the App Store, why don't you distribute the mac client on the Mac App Store.

    This would solve the updating problem and also make the app easier to discover. The download page is pretty hidden on the mattermost website, I always end up on the server download page when I only want to check for update.

17. Automatically restart Mattermost after upgrade if it was already running (MSI)

    When updating existing installations of Mattermost with the MSI, the desktop app should automatically restart if it was running when the installation started. At the very least, the installer option that starts Mattermost after installation should be exposed as a public property, so it can be set as a switch when installing with msiexec.

    Currently, the MSI kills the process but it doesn't restart when running with the /qn switch.

    After upgrading the Windows desktop client from 4.3.1 to 4.3.2, both installed with the MSI, an entry for both versions exist in add/remove programs.

    Two keys are created in the registry.

    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{A44E2D12-7D92-4ABC-8366-35E1CD827C01}

    and

    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{C0437176-EF43-4633-A55C-1164B09E8646}

    Updating the application, which would normally be a simple process of running the MSI for the latest version with the /qn switch through any systems management system has turned into a scripting exercise. Either the GUID should stay the same or the old version should be automatically removed.

    Additionally, removing 4.3.1 after installing 4.3.2 breaks the installation, as the files are installed to the same location.
