  1. Enable different spellchecking languages for each server

    I switch between a German and English server a lot and one of them always has all of my messages underlined red, so being able to set the language on a per server basis would be great!

  2. Improve the UX of the very first screen

    The first impressions of an app are critical. This is the screenshot that I have when I have first installed the Matermost desktop client on Ubuntu. I think it will be the same for all platforms:

    Almost everything on this screen is unfriendly to a new user especially a non-technical user.

    1. The title

    It just says: 'Add Server'. Nothing like 'Hi!' or 'Welcome to Mattermost!' or anything that displays some kind of enthusiasm for welcoming the user. This is where Slack shines - friendly, quirky (perhaps later annoying) messages.

  3. Make the text box background match the rest of the dark theme

    When in either of the dark themes on the Android app, the text box has a white background which is super jarring. Can we get it matched with the rest of the theme please?

  4. Different sound notifications for DMs/mentions and normal channel chatter

    Currently when someone sends you a direct message, mentions you, or sends a message to into non-muted channel that you are a member of, the desktop app plays the same sound. I think it would be a really nice/useful feature to give users the option to play different sounds to distinguish between DM/mentions and normal channel chatter.

  5. Add typescript type definitions to the mattermost-redux api-lib

    Please could you add types so that developping of plugins/integrations/hooks and such may benefit from the power of type verification and auto completion.
    It would, specially on API dev, be a strong plus ;)

  6. Allow Incoming Webhooks to use response_type

    Please allow incoming webhooks to use response_type. I'm looking at making a bot that would allow others to roleplay. This bot functions by watching the channel, and when it sees a message with a trigger that has been set up with it, uses a incoming webhook to post a message with a custom picture and username before deleting the triggering message.

  9. Check which channels are being actively used by the company (Latest comment date)

    My company has multiples teams and more than 20 channels in each of them. I am a new employee, and I have to join each channel to check if they are being used looking for the latest comment date.

    Is there a feature to order channels by the latest comment date or to filter the channel list to have only the ones that are being used?

  10. Parse channel search string to allow more powerful queries

    I use the channel switcher with Ctrl+K a lot. Recently I joined two groups that have some overlapping members:

    Group X has members aa, bb, me. Group Y has members aa, cc, me.

    Now, it is quite tedious to search for them efficiently. If I search for "bb" and "cc" I will hit direct messaging with either of the two. And if I search for "aa" it is even worse: I get the two groups, plus direct messaging.

    I suggest to allow for a search expressions as follows: "a b", "a c". I expect this to find group channels where…

  13. More Granular Session lengths for SSO authentication

    Currently the configurations for SSO authentication session lengths allow for a single digit value representing days that the authenticated session will last before expiring and forcing a re-authentication.

    There has been quite a bit of interest within my teams to have this more granular, specifically down to a number of hours (with our preference being somewhere around the length of a work day- 8hours). By doing something less than a single day, with people having varying schedules, it would guarantee that almost everyone will need to re-authenticate when coming back to work.   16. Disable the "More Actions" tooltip when the menu is already open

    On the [...] button on the right side of a message, there's a tooltip displaying the text "More Actions". When I click on this button, the menu pops up and then the tooltip appears, blocking the "Edit" menu item. The tooltip should never be allowed to pop up if the menu is already open.
