  1. Outgoing webhooks for bot accounts

    It would be great if I could specify a webhook URL for a bot account that is triggered (similar to an outgoing webhook) whenever the bot receives a private message or is @mentioned in a channel that it is a member of.

  3. mention a channel with #

    On different chat software you can mention a channel. For example: #test. If you click on the #test, you will go to that channel. I miss this feature in the app right now so I think this will be very useful.

  4. Add groups/teams assignment for OpenID Connect

    In scenarios without LDAP there is no way to assign users to Teams as it can be done with LDAP groups. Having a way to achieve this through OpenID Connect would be a great feature.

  6. Allow users to define their preferred language, and display it on their profile resume

    When opening a conversation with a colleague you dont know in a worldwide company, it isnt possible to know what is their prefered language. As a result, all conversations start with so you prefer that language or that language ?

    If preferred language gets added in users' profiles, and gets displayed when openint an empty private conversation, talking to colleagues you dont know will become less awkward

  8. seen messages in direct message or channel

    In Telegram you can see who read the message in channel.
    I think it's good feature, because right now I gotta set reaction on message to let know user who mentioned me that I read it and he doesn't need to repeat it me in DM. also we want this on direct message

  11. Add an option to require explicit opt in consent when registering a new user

    Currently, disclaimer text exists in Mattermost directing users to the privacy policy and terms of use, below the create account button (user registration page). I propose that these should be explicit opt-ins using a checkbox or radio button pairing, rather than an assumed opt-in.

    Regulations will differ around the world, and people's preferences will differ, so this should probably be a configuration option rather than a flat behavour change.

  12. Change mmctl user to also allows changing the firstname / lastname (aka fullname) as well as the alias

    When using MM with auth providers, in most cases, its not possible to change the user data once a user has been created.

    It would be nice to be able to use

    mmctl user name --firstname Igmar --lastname Palsenberg igmar

    from the cli.

    If we agree, I'll do a PR for the code changes.

  13. Display Nickname or Full Name Based on Settings

    I configured nicknamefullname: true, but the username is still displayed while drafting a chat. This is not user-friendly.
    The same problem also occurs when full_name: true is configured.

    I'm Japanese, and Japanese characters cannot be used in usernames. Therefore, displaying only the username is very troublesome for my organization.

    When creating a scheduled message in the time field you can only select minutes 00 or 30, and this is actually a problem, users want to create messages for example in 45 minutes or 15 minutes.

  15. Customiziable user profile fields (in addition to "position" and "nickname")

    Currently the user profile contains a nickname and position field. It would be awesome if it was possible to add additional fields in the System Console, and that users then could populate them with information.

    Depending on the mattermost server and what it is used for many different fields could be useful. For my specific case (student organization) I would like to add:

    • Phone Number
    • Pronouns
    • Year of study

    These fields would ideally show up both on mobile and desktop/web platforms.

  17. Comment on the posted IMG on specific elements.

    My Feature Idea:
    Open a Preview of the posted IMG or PDF and comment on specific elements. (For Design Teams like the feature in InVision)
    Example: Comment on the button on the left side because it looks too small.
    I love Mattermost and plan to integrate it in our workflow :)

  18. Enable setup as a Tor hidden service (like XMPP servers)

    Many people use XMPP servers for instant messaging due to it's decentralisation. And many of these providers also have hidden service servers (.onion addresses)

    If Mattermost wants to be competitive with other popular instant messaging programs like XMPP (Jabber) then it needs to allow easy setup of hidden service servers, ideally with a wizard setup installer.
