Mattermost in SharePoint (e.g. iframe)
The last question regard this topic in this forum was not very helpful. Therefore my question: I have in my company mattermost installed. E.g. matter.mycompany.com - Now I would like to integrate mattermost in e.g. via iframe. How can I easly active the iframe option - in General or just for mycompany.com if this is possible? Thanks in advance!

Add user profiles and text boxes
It would be great if there was a way to expand profiles to include boxes where users could host information. This might include: location, about me, skills, experience, links to external sites and portfolios, or active tasks engaged with. If there is already a way to do this it would be great to know. Thanks!

Restricted channels with a join policy
Currently all you can have in Mattermost is public channels (joinable by everyone in the team) and private channels (not visible in any listing, and you need to be added).
The problem is that sometimes you want to have a private discussion where e.g. everyone from the IT department is allowed to participate. Currently you would have to add your whole department to such a channel (which is spammy, especially since you cannot hide any channels from your sidebar without leaving them).
It would be nice if it was possible to mark a channel as restricted. Such a channel would…

Map Lync/Skype for Business user presence to Mattermost
Hi,
We use Lync/Skype for Business as the primary communications tool at my company, but for small project/team communications we use a self-hosted Mattermost server, because it's obviously 9000 times better than SFB.
However, Mattermost (especially the desktop client) does not integrate very well with Windows regarding the user's presence.
Short Scenario:
If I lock my computer, SFB immediately sets my presence toAway
, meanwhile Mattermost doesn't.On the other way around, if I minimize the Mattermost Desktop client to the tray, and I have an other application running on full-screen, after a short period, Mattermost goes to mark…
10 votesHi Kristóf, thank you for suggesting this feature!
Sounds that what you are experiencing is similar to this Help Wanted ticket: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/7721
Would you be open to help contribute to it? If so, we’d be more than happy to guide you through the process. The change would be in our Desktop App which uses Javascript instead of Go.

Login with QR code
I have a very long password and I would like to keep it. To make it easier to login on the phone it would be great if a QR is code shown on the computer which I can scan. (Where I am already logged into Mattermost.) Similar to Whatsapp where you login like this on the computer.

Disable join/leave messages globally
It would be nice to disable the join/leave messages independently from the user specific setting. We use a channel to post anonymous posts via a bot. People can see who joined and see a link to an anoynmous post.

Private metadata on mobile notifications
My organization is using Mattermost heavily, and we'd like to receive mobile notifications to make it more useful. However, currently Mattermost shares a lot of metadata with Apple's and Google's servers:
This is preventing us from enabling notifications.
I'd like to suggest that you treat the Apple and Google push notification services just as a "wake up" signal, without including user ID, team ID, etc. The mobile app would then connect (via TLS) to its server, download any new messages, and generate local notifications based on those.
I recently spoke with someone on the Mattermost team who suggested that…

Email notification for any activity (without mention)
Currently, the notification system allows:
- Getting browser desktop notification for any activity
- Getting email notification for mentions
I'd like to have the mix: get email notification for any activity when I'm not logged-in. Many systems allow this (eg. gitter's "You have unread messages" emails), but I couldn't find it in Mattermost.
Ideally, the system would :
- Wait a few minutes before sending the notification, to send a mail containing several messages at once.
- Send only one notification even if there are further messages, to avoid flooding the mailbox with tons of emails
This would be very useful to follow low…

Desktop app: Ability to find a permalink
There is no way to navigate to a permalink (the way I can in a browser address bar). This makes collaborating with inbound traffic (e.g. a reference in an email) very hard, I end up switching to a browser. (I realize this might be borderline feature request, but the lack of handling is specific to this client, or my ignorance of how to use it.)
- Get permalink from existing post
- Switch to different channel, same team
- Paste full link (or just token ID) into search
- Nothing found

Allow a channel to broadcast messages to several teams
I would like to enable our Product Owner to broadcast information to several teams at once without inviting her to every team (which makes not that much sense because she isn’t a team member but the PO).

End-to-end encryption of mobile notifications
If a user is sending highly sensitive information over a Mattermost deployment, having it traverse Apple's and/or Google's servers unencrypted en route to a mobile device may not be acceptable. At the same time, configuring the server to exclude the message body removes a significant amount of potentially-valuable context from the notification.
The conflict between these concerns could be resolved by having the Mattermost server encrypt mobile notifications with a per-device key prior to submission, and having the mobile app decrypt the notification before presenting it to the user.
This can be done on iOS with a Notification Service Extension: …

Compliance Export (Beta) Suggestion
As per the official documentation here - https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/compliance-export.html#why-are-compliance-exports-beta, it is mentioned that:
"Exports do not yet include messages with special types, namely system messages, webhook message attachments and custom plugin messages."
Do we have an estimation as to when this will be implemented in the upcoming Compliance Export for E20?

System Administrator: Ability to Import Users via CSV / Excel File
While system administrator are limited to only have the following methods to create / import users:
* Local users: mattermost user create CLI, direct invite, team invite link
* External users: LDAP / AD / SAMLIt will be good to have the ability to use CSV or Excel file to bulk import the users with specific formatting especially if the organization has a lot of customers and is not utilizing AD / LDAP / SSO.

Display direct message description instead of member list in the channel list
For direct messages, an option to display the channel description in the channel list instead of (an often truncated) list of members would be very useful.
This would make it much easier to find the correct channel if you have many of them; and also when direct channels have many and/or similar members.

Implement alt text/image captions
Please implement an option for users to embed screen reader-compatible descriptive captions in images they upload for accessibility purposes. While I recognize this can be done simply by posting the caption text alongside this image, this can be cumbersome if the description is very long (e.g., a screenshot that contains lots of text). Something similar to what Twitter and Instagram have implemented in their UI for alt text (minus the character limit) may be ideal.
