Assign User to incoming Webhooks
Hey,
we run Mattermost and have some webhooks set up for Taiga ( https://taiga.io ). We created a User "Taiga-Bot" for our webhooks.Right now the webhook is always assigned to the user that created given webhook.
I'd like to have an option to assign already created/new webhooks to any user as long that I'm logged in with a sysAdmin account.

Better /me command style
/me command has very poor style distinction. It only uses italics but it is enclosed in a dialog balloon as any other message.
It is more distinguishable, for example, when the system balloon tells join/leave actions in 3rd person. I think something like that would be more accurate for the /me command.

Display new messages at the top of channel
It would be nice if there was option to change whether newest messages are displayed at the top or bottom of a channel.

Touchbar integration
How about adding touchbar integration for the latest Macbook Pros? This is one thing that HipChat had that was quite useful - could be used for emoji search, setting away/dnd status, etc.
Thoughts?

An External Apps Marketplace.
The idea would be to create a standard bridge and a marketplace to integrate with Mattermost external applications.
It could be a calendar (like in an other idea) or files management systems, gantt ... or many useful apps, based on the oauth2 authentication of Mattermost18 votes -
search in bots' messages
We use MM EE integrate with GitLab EE, so "bots" from GitLab post issues / comments / merge requests to our channels. Today I discovered that MM Search feature does not search (or index?) messages send by such bots as it does not consider them as char participants (from: autocomplete does not offer bots' names, only humans). Is there a setting affecting this or it's by design? Thank you.

Separate Teams from each other
Different Teams can see all other Mattermost members via “Add new members to team” link. Even worse they can even add other teams members as regular user.
Expected behavior
Teams are meant to seperate Accounts.
A regular User should not have the privilege to see all other server members nor to invite them.
Observed behaviorALL Users are visible as non privileged user.
ALL User can be invited as non privileged user.As mentioned in:

increase the 22 character limit on channel names.
Slack recently increased their character limitation on channel names. We would like Mattermost to increase the limit as well, as this has been a helpful feature since it was rolled out.

Expand image previews in Compact Message Display mode
I would like to be able to see a preview of the attached image even if I am in Compact Message Display Mode.
Currently, even if the Account Settings > Display > Default appearance of image previews is set to Expanded, the image is only displayed as an attachment icon when Account Settings > Display > Message Display is set to Compact. These two settings should work independently of each other.18 votes -
Make team tabs optional
The new wide tab bar steals useful screen real estate, introduces visual redundancy to our single-server setup (team name mentioned twice within a really small area of UI), and makes the app look even less at home on macOS. The old top of the window bar at least looked native. Please consider making the tab bar optional at least in single-server environments.

Click the file to open
- App sets an automatic download directory, such as $HOME\Documents\Mattermost Files\
- Add an "open" button beside the download button on the right side of the file in the chat.
- When you click the "Open" button, if the file has not been downloaded, it will be automatically downloaded to the download folder in the first step. At the same time, the download progress bar will be displayed below the file in the chat. After the download is complete, or the file has been downloaded, call the system program to open the file.

The button to go to the last message
Hello to all friends
I think it is very necessary to place a button to go to the last message in the channel.

Having support for other databases, e.g. Oracle, is crucial as this is common infrastructure in enterprise IT landscapes.

System Admin should be able to force displaying of users real name (prename and surname! not nickname or username!)
In some environments it would be very usefull for the participants to be able to clearly identify a user. This is not necessarily the case, if nicknames (or even usernames) can be choosed by the users themself to be displayed in Mattermost channels.
Therefore an administrator should be able to force the displayed name to display the prename and surname within the chat history window to minimize an users anonymity. This may be also related to a forced disclosure of prename and surname during the registration process.17 votes -
Secure direct messages using TextSecure/Axolotl algorithms
Secure direct messages (and may be messages in private groups) using TextSecure/Axolotl algorithms. Unlike OTR protocol this will enable sending secure offline messages. I think TextSecure library could be used https://github.com/janimo/textsecure

Message automatic deletion a la snapchat
I'm trying Mattermost on a large organization as a professional communication tool surrounding but not overlapping formal previous communication tools that will remain (email, business specific tools, etc). To achive that, Mattermost messages are meant to be sended/received, read, and then expire and dissapear. We don't need a new static, searchable communication tool (yet on steroids), but a volatile one in order to support teams internal dynamics, but not to remain logged.
I've thougth of a sort of bot checking times been read or time from post on every message and deleting on checking pre-defined conditions, but this would be…17 votes -
Noification through Taskbar blink for new messages
There are instances when I am away from my PC and when I come back, I want my attention to be pulled to mattermost if I have new messages. A taskbar blink on new messages will do that.
Now I have to remember to open mattermost every once in a while, which you tend to forget when you are busy with other work.17 votes -

Un-push notifications after I actively read all messages
When I read actively read all messages on a device, the pushed notifications to my other devices should be "un-pushed", meaning they disappear from Android's notification bar and the favicon turns from red to black, for instance.
Since https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/13834386-option-to-push-notify-to-mobile-even-when-logged-i got implemented (which asked for an option but got implemented as the only possible behavior), each notification must be marked as read on each device separately, which is really time-wasting and distracting.
