maintain right hand sidebar (RHS) open state, when switching between teams (4.1.2)
Every time I switch between teams, the sidebar closes.
I'm looking to have the sidebar open 100% of the time, because it's functionally useful and it's more cognitive load when screen looks different after every team switch (often).

Show slash command for in_channel integration responses
One subtle different between slack and mattermost around slash commands is that "in_channel" responses in slack also show the initial user and command. I find this helps visibility, especially if the command has arguments -
/bitbucket status
vs/bitbucket status project
for example.https://api.slack.com/slash-commands#in_channel__vs__ephemeral__responses

Add a text display feature to off/on the auto-collapsed(Show More Link)
“If it includes more than 300 characters or more than 5 line breaks, the message will be collapsed and a “Show More” link will be added to expand the message.”
This Message Attachments rule is not good for quick reading. You must click the "Show More" link again and agian to read a lot of long texts. So would you mind adding a feature to off/on This?

Prevent users from posting ineffective @mentions while editing a post
At the moment, there is no indication whether a mention will be "effective" (i. e. it will actually trigger notifications).
This lead to confusion among our users, who intended to trigger a mention by editing an existing post, what - of course - currently doesn't work. There are two possible solutions to this:
1) Show users a warning, when their @mention will not have any effect
This could be along the lines of: "You can't trigger @mentions by editing an existing post. Please write a new post if you want to mention someone."2) Make edits trigger mentions
This would also circumvent the problem, that if you want to make people aware of your post but you forgot to mention them, you have to repost the complete post so useful information shows up in their notification email (and not just the @mention text). You could also point specific users to older posts without reposting.I'd like to hear your arguments for suggestions 1) and 2) because I'm really not sure what the better solution would be. (I tend to favor 2) because it requires less warning texts and is more "intuitive", I guess. But maybe there are huge downsides I can't see right now.)

Mention notifications should differentiate between “mention you” and “mentioned all”
This seems like an almost fatal flaw. I hope it can be implemented soon as it doesn’t seem like a major project!

Interactive Message links/flat-buttons
I really like the interaction message buttons!
https://docs.mattermost.com/developer/interactive-message-buttons.htmlI am trying to clone the /remind functionality in Slack into Mattermost, and the button interactions are working well, but the links to 'delete', 'Close list', 'view completed items', etc do not have an equivalent in Mattermost. (For now I am going to perhaps have buttons for these though it's not as flexible as I'd like)

Clear cache automatically at set time or do not cache data on Desktop client
On Windows, conversations are cached locally on the desktop client under the Roaming/Mattermost/Cache folder. These cache files contain sensitive information from conversations in the desktop app. I would like an option in the desktop client to either 1) disable cache completely or 2) clear the full cache on a regularly scheduled timeframe (ex. every 6 hours). Disabling cache is better as it makes sure that the conversation isn't saved to the local file system. This is important for projects that do not want any sensitive conversations available outside of Mattermost.

Add the posibility to have a list of teams instead of the very small squares in the teams column
The small squares of team names are very difficult to find a team in as the team name does not fit in the little square.
I would like to have the option to have a list similar to the one with topics within a team instead of those small squares.2 votes -

Show Emoji picker for current message when hovering on message and typing space
It is a bit cumbersome to select an emoji reaction since the button is fairly small and all the way to the right. I suggest to open the emoji reaction picker when hovering on a message and typing space.

Update Pinned Posts Panel switching between channels
Want to have pinned posts panel to dynamically change when switching between channels to show the pinned posts in that specific channel. Currently you'd have to unselect and then reselect pinned posts to update it everytime you change channel

"Mark channel unread" option to support account notification settings "words that trigger mentions" feature
At the moment its possible to mark channels unread if you are mentioned (The channel name is bolded in the sidebar when there are unread messages. Selecting "Only for mentions" will bold the channel only when you are mentioned), but it would be awesome if we could have the function to choose the settings that are already adjusted in "Account settings" --> Notifications --> Words that triggers mentions
Would save lot of time to read only channels that has something related to your keywords, not only if you are mentioned
Related issue, but requires more like only "channel wide notifications": https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/32818684-channel-specific-option-for-notifications-from-cha

Handle old browsers more gracefully
Mattermost does not work on some old browsers (e.g. Android 4.2: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/8825).
I don't expect the team to support these legacy browsers but currently it only displays a blank page, which can be confusing for users. It would be nice if Mattermost could display an user-friendly error message when the browser is not supported.

windows people
Summary
Microsoft now supports pinning conversations within applications to the taskbar through what they call the My People API:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/contacts-and-calendar/my-people-support
It looks like it primarily supports windows store apps/c#, so it might not be possible to do with electron/node. It's also OS-specific, which isn't really beneficial to the app as a whole.

Chatting to Golang Bot through direct message
Hello, I have the golang bot implemented into a mattermost channel.
It would be helpful to have an option for users to ask the bot questions in a Direct message as opposed to just a public channel.
I feel that this would encourage users to use the bot more and help shy users as well. That way there can be some sort of privacy between users.
Also, a way to have a log for Admins to keep track of what questions are being asked will be helpful in developing the bot further.36 votes -
unicode emoji to support chinese character custom emoji names
Current behavior: User interface won't allow me to give Chinese names to emoji.
Requested behavior:
- Allow naming of custom emoji with Chinese characters
- User be able to type :你好: and have the mapped custom emoji show up in chatNotes:
George Goldberg suggested to enable full unicode support for custom emoji names rather than just ascii. https://pre-release.mattermost.com/core/pl/ce5wkyq1w7drxd55mjy38c1apo1 vote -
Toggle the visibility of bot/webhook messages
I'd like a way to quickly hide/show bot and webhook messages in a channel. It would be easier to have conversations when the channel is regularly "spammed" by bot messages. Could be a simple button in the channel header

List of Flagged Posts in Mobile Application
It would be a good idea in mobile application to have a button that list of flagged post in channel details. To see a flagged post, it would be very difficult to seek all posts earlier.
Thanks in advance.1 vote
