    Considering the benefits of data analytics for such kind of apps, don't you think support for a nosql database would help. Also, if you want to scale it to a million users; will a rdbms solution support that?

  2. Loop GIFs on mouseover

    The GIF preview feature is great, but a channel full of looping gifs is visually distracting.

    Discord's implementation of this functionality plays the GIF once, then repeats it on mouseover. This works really well and would be a nice polish to the current implementation.

  3. Teammate name display selections

    Would it be possible to add custom selection of username, nickname and full name to teammate name display? This would make it possible to use combinations like John Doe (Johnny-boy) or John Doe (johnd).

    In that not requesting to do away with fences, just want the slack snippet feature.

  5. Add custom user groups for mentions

    Add cusom user groups for mentions. Something like @developers or @frontend to mention all members of group in this channel. Also it would be useful for large teams, when novices does not know who is who - with this feature they can determinate at least group

  6. Touchbar integration

    How about adding touchbar integration for the latest Macbook Pros? This is one thing that HipChat had that was quite useful - could be used for emoji search, setting away/dnd status, etc.

  8. Make visual indications of new messages more pronounced

    The current indication for the Mac client is a hardly distinguishable blue dot for the team and a hardly distinguishable whiter color for the channel. It's nice and muted, but I had to really look hard before I found what to look for for unread messages. I suggest a slightly more pronounced way of indicating unread messages for teams and channels.

  9. Allow webhooks to trigger other webhooks posts

    From: https://github.com/mattermost/platform/issues/1901

    Outgoing webhooks are not triggered by other webhooks posts. For example if bota posts "hello" on Town Square and botb is typically triggered by "hello", it will not be triggered.

    If this was implemented, the danger is creating cycles unintentionally, so there should be a way to avoid that.

  12. Clickable Phone Number in phone app

    In other chat apps, if someone writes a phone number, it turns into a clickable link automatically, so you can easily call someone. In our field, we are constantly giving phone numbers in our chats for field staff who need a call from a supervisor, and this would speed up our processes immensely. Thank you.

  15. Allow us to make the window smaller on desktop without collapsing the sidebar.

    Sidebar needs to be able to be resizable and we should be able to make the window smaller with the sidebar still showing. There is a lot of empty space.

  16. Implement Automatic Right-To-Left (RTL)

    Most popular text editors change the text direction automatically to RTL (Rgiht to Left) when you enter a text in RTL languages such as Persian, Arabic or Hebrew. If that was the case in the Mattermost, we (the RTL language speaking people!) could use Mattermost much more productively, and localization to Farsi, Arabic, etc was possible.
