Welcome message for new users
It will be nice that upon entering a team, a welcome message is displayed to that user. Message can be composed on the Team Settings or perhaps in the console.
In the message an admin can point out custom slash commands or any new feature that needs to be highlighted.
User can save the message (just like any other) for future reference is desired.1 voteWe have an APR ticket for this feature which can be tracked here: https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/PLT-1262

Disable highlighting of own messages
When chatting, the own messages are currently highlighted (grey background) which is a little bit confusing in my opinion. It would be create to either disable that, turn it the other way around or make it configurable

Pseudo-random default avatars
Make the default user's avatars more random. Instead of just being a circle with the first letter of the user's username, use some hashing algorithm to generate some sort of identicons. An idea very popular nowadays (Github, GitLab, Gravatar, Slack, etc)

Add notification replies for wearables
Currently, whenever a mobile notification is received, it displays the message in the notification, but accessing the notification from a wearable (Android Wear, Tizen, Pebble, etc.) only gives the option to show on phone, with no choice to reply to the message from the notification. It would be nice to have notification replies so that people with wearables can respond to messages quickly without needing to pull out their phone.

Assign User to incoming Webhooks
Hey,
we run Mattermost and have some webhooks set up for Taiga ( https://taiga.io ). We created a User "Taiga-Bot" for our webhooks.Right now the webhook is always assigned to the user that created given webhook.
I'd like to have an option to assign already created/new webhooks to any user as long that I'm logged in with a sysAdmin account.

Jump to new message
In case of a new message it would be great if the application/ web interface would directly jump to the contact who sent the message.
Actually you get the notification and need to click on the marked contact to see the new message. This should be optional.

Enable integration on all teams
We host multiple teams that need the same slash command. It would be pretty useful to be able to setup the integration once for all the teams.

Offensive Words Filter
In a professional environment, it would not be polite to allow some kind of language specially in open channels. It would be very useful for admins to handle a small database of words not permitted in their channel and a filter that replaces the "offending words" for symbols or other words defined by them.

Edit + Move others' messages in public Channel + History
Edit others' messages in public channels. Give admins the right to restrict the editing rights to certain users and channels.
Use Cases:
1.) Something in a message is wrong, commit number, bug report number, link, etc.
2.) Move message to the appropriate channel, user might have posted it to the wrong channelThis of course also allows censorship, which is why a history of the messages would be nice.

iOS horizontal support on iPhones
I would like to add horizontal support to the iOS iPhone application in order to make viewing code snippets a bit more user friendly.
I have implemented the change already, but need a ticket to create a pull request.

mailgun as mail manager
Propose to use mailgun (an email service for developers) as an alternative to the SMTP server. The open-source blog platform ghost uses it and it is very easy to configure (instead of a whole server mail to install and secure).

Prevent keyboard from hiding after sending on native mobile apps.
Keyboard hides after clicking send button.
It would be better to persist the keyboard on screen after sending a message. This is a common use case for users to who want to send separate messages instead of creating paragraphs.
Hiding the keyboard should be triggered by the 'Done' button or touching the message display area.

Allow restricting GitLab/GitHub SSO user signups to only a particular team
Near as I can tell, right now if you use the GitLab/GitHub SSO option, any user with an account is able to sign up. It'd be great if there was a way to restrict signups to only users who are members of a particular team.

Add a configurable setting to show count of unread messages, mentions or channels on taskbar
Original discussion can be found here: https://github.com/mattermost/desktop/issues/111
Add a configurable setting to show count of unread messages, mentions or channels on taskbar.
When a message is received, there is small red badge with number of total unread mentions (in the client taskbar icon and the browser tab).
Proposal is to let the user choose what to count on this badge - any messages, mention and direct messages only or even number of channels with unread messages

Let admins allow anonymous posts / anonymous channels
A setting that allows users to make anonymous posts. Or that forces all posts in a given channel to be anonymous.
On a trusted server, this gives users a safe place to make anonymous statements.
Similar to the "Anonymous posting" feature of Discourse: https://www.discourse.org/about/
Enable anonymous posting mode and your users can easily switch to anonymous mode to post about controversial, dangerous, or political issues without fear.
