  1. Option to show integration username overrides in push notifications

    When push notifications get sent they show up as my username for my integrations (username posted to channel). It would be great if the notifications showed username overrides instead or there was an option to do so, "Nagios posted to channel".

  3. For file storage, add support for Google Cloud Storage

    For users who don't want to or can't use Amazon S3 or local filesystem, adding support for Google Cloud Storage improves the "Cloud portability" of Mattermost, in addition to supporting more use cases.

  4. Asynchronous uploads (that do not block chatting)

    Right now, when you upload a larger sized file you are blocked from chatting until the upload finishes.

    It would be nice if the upload is handled separately so you can continue sending new chats while the upload is processed. Slack does this too.

  5. Ability to customize the site favicon

    When a user interacts with several Mattermost instances having always the same favicon can get highly confusing.

    With versions pre-3.0 it was fairly easy to directly change the favicon files on the installation. It looks way more complex since the 3.0 came out as the file names are no longer predictable

  9. Provide an option to show the amount of new messages in a channel

    Actually we can see our amout of new mention in a channel, is it possible to do same thing with new messages ?

    I think the bold text for new messages isn't visible enough, with a sort of buble like mentions it can be more visible.

  10. Add user_real_name to outgoing slash commands or webhooks

    An outgoing /slash command from mattermost sends information including the token, userid and username in the POST.

    We would also like to see userrealname in the POST, without having to do another API call.

  11. Message automatic deletion a la snapchat

    I'm trying Mattermost on a large organization as a professional communication tool surrounding but not overlapping formal previous communication tools that will remain (email, business specific tools, etc). To achive that, Mattermost messages are meant to be sended/received, read, and then expire and dissapear. We don't need a new static, searchable communication tool (yet on steroids), but a volatile one in order to support teams internal dynamics, but not to remain logged.

  12. Add better filters/search for messages and attachments

    1. Have a panel in the sidebar (similar to Slack) to view all available files/your files for the team/channel. Filters by file type and being able to search the filename would also be nice.

    2. Have additional search filters (again similar to Slack) such as the time/duration or the has: qualifier (e.g. has: link)

  15. Add ephemeral chats

    Implement ephemeral chats. Useful for one-off topic discussions that may intersect users who do not all participate in a common room and for topics that don't fit existing rooms. There would be a simplified creation process (no topic, no purpose, invite users as the first action), generally more like Direct Messaging. It should also be possible to add/remove people from the conversation and promote it to a real room at some point. Maybe I just want to talk with a group of colleagues about dinner tonight...

  16. include a Trace option in the logging modes.

    We were having an issue that was causing Mattermost to continually crash for no apparently reason. Nothing was consistent in the log files, debug didn't give enough information, heck I even did an strace on the PID and wasn't able to get anything useful. A Trace option should include DB calls, perhaps a transaction ID to link the API call to the DB call...

    There is currently no method for changing the owner of a channel.

    • A channel owner should be able to assign ownership of their channel to another user
    • Team admins and System Admins should be able to assign ownership of any channel to another user

  20. Create a "already used tags" drop down menu when typing # , based on the already used hashtags

    To preserve or moderate a given thread , theme or channel, tagging them makes the search much easier afterwards. But to make sure, that the given hashtags will be the same (tag cloud?), by typing # a dropdown should show up with already used tags. Behavior could be the same lile with @ or :(for smileys!).
