Allow to disable thread autofollow when whole channel was mentioned.
Add parameter that allows Mattermost admin, to disable thread autofollow while having collapsed reply thread turned on while mass mentions are used (@channel, @all, @here).
I want my users to get notification, but not to follow this thread automatically, afaik, this is not possible at this moment, because thread autofollow must be set to true in config.json, for collapsed reply thread to work.43 votes -

Filter out inactive users in Mattermost system console user list
Mattermost system console user list should allow to filter out inactive users, or in other words to only show active users and admins.
Right now you only have following options:
"All users"
"System Admins"
"Guests"
"Inactive"So an option "All Active users" should be added.
Also a filter to show only users which has/has not enabled MFA would be very useful

ability to add member for DM for one to one messages only without making new channel/team

User name pronounce upload on profile.
according to various national users join to Mattermost instance.
sometimes not sure how to pronounce their name,
(especially, when people use their real name)what if each users available to upload their name pronounce on profile when they create an account.
and people on the same channel with that person can play it? (only when they click pronounce button)
I think it would be convenient for who have Mattermost instance like me.

Unique email invitation links
Make it so the admin is the only one that can invite by sending a unique code to an email- that has to be verified by the email it was sent to

Be nice to find the most active channels when joining a team for the first time.

Allow users, or server admins to configure the width of the channel switcher
Webapp
Some of our channel names are just a little too long for the channel switcher, it'd be great to have an extra 50px so they fit in properly and don't get truncated.
It would be great if this was an option for users, or even as just a config setting in the server/webapp

Allow administrators to set emoji aliases
I've run in to several emoji that use a non-standard name in Mattermost, which I've found to be very confusing. One prime example is that the "party popper" emoji (as it's known on many other platforms) is called "tada" in Mattermost. I'd love to be able to set an alias of

direct constant url to newest stable release
hello folks.
mattermost-omnibus isn't a viable update mechanic for a lot of people as it has restrictions and is locked into several parts. IE - necessitates postgres and comes with nginx.
mattermost doesn't appear to have their own apt-repo so updating that way isn't an option. github releases need to be built/compiled.
i'm scripting my own update but I'm hitting a wall with how the URL for the newest release is formatted.
Could we please get a direct URL to the newest release?

Increase/remove image dimension limits
Increase or remove the image dimension limits or provide a way for us to set them ourselves.

make /commands referencable in post-text.
There are interactive message buttons, but they dont flow neatly in the text. It should be possible to write a longer post, and reference commands and parameters in the text.
Once the post is posted, they become clickable by everyone which would in some way ask for confirmation or just pre-fill the text-input-area and allow the users to execute said command.That way one could not even better educate users of (custom) commands, but could also help them prefill the arguments of commands.

Allow users to be set to disallow direct messages
At the moment, you can configure users to be allowed to send direct messages either to other members of the team or to anyone on the server.
I'd like to make it so that normal users cannot start direct messages at all.
My particular usecase may be a little out of the sweet spot - I have created a mattermost for my children (quite young) who I want to be able to chat with while they are doing their home learning, but don't want them using public chat systems. I am happy for them to interact with each other in…

Adding a "Do Not Disturb" Mode
We all know that people need to concentrate to work efficiently. This is why macOS and then all the operating systems have introduced the "Do not Disturb" mode, which allows to focus on your work.
And I think we can do even better while integrating it to Mattermost.
What is in the "Do not disturb" functionality ? It stops alls notification except the ones which doesn't disturb you.
But the question is : why is it interesting to add it to Mattermost ?

Admins should be able to see statistics of different channels too.
Right now mattermost provides statistics at App level and at Team level. It would be really helpful if admins can see stats of different public/private channels too.
That means if I have 15 different channels, I can stats of all of them and pick which one is being used the most and which is least.
What do you think guys?

Change custom attributes to support user set attribute values
Custom attributes should optionally support having both a name and a value at the point of definition by the system admin.
They would be as currently assigned to users/teams/group as
appropriate. The value of the attribute could then be set at this time or by the user, team/group owner in a custom attribute extension to the user profile or similarly for for teams and group. Support for attributes of type simple
(no value, current behavior), required (must be set), overridable (can be changed or not from value set by system) could also be added.
