An External Apps Marketplace.
The idea would be to create a standard bridge and a marketplace to integrate with Mattermost external applications.
It could be a calendar (like in an other idea) or files management systems, gantt ... or many useful apps, based on the oauth2 authentication of Mattermost18 votes -

Provide for multiple fonts
Recently the ability to choose fonts was removed. See https://forum.mattermost.org/t/removing-font-setting/3367. Now there is only one font, and it renders poorly for me (insufficient weight/contrast) on smaller high DPI displays. This makes the GUI very hard to use. Please provide a way to select among a set of fonts, or ideally specify my own.
Frankly the justification for removing the feature was weak. Let the user decide if the load time or other trade offs are worth the better rendering.

Implement Support to "Share" Feature
most of the social apps have “Share” feature. There are two ways. “Share From Mattermost To …” and “Share From … To Mattermost”
Those allow integration between apps and make it easier to add messages and links to Mattermost.
Cheers

Create Tear Away Chat Windows
The desktop app is WAY too clunky to permit multiple simultaneous conversations.
Mattermost needs "tear away" chat windows like Google Hangouts so that you can have side by side chats going.

Mobile: Option to send by pressing Enter
Ability to configure the Enter key behavior: submit the message you are writing instead of create a new line when you press the enter key (it's useful for example if you are using an external keyboard)

Add a Tablet / iPad version of Second Generation Mobile Apps
The second generation mobile apps currently are not designed to support tablets.
(See https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-mobile/issues/670)
If you would like to see tablet / iPad support, please help upvote this feature idea so we can track the demand for it.

Policy for new account to change the initial password
Hello world,
we host mattermost by our own. So it is not allowed to register by your self. Our admin create the user with a initial password.
So it will be good, that the user have to change the initial password.
What do you think about it?
Best reguards

allow admins to set the default channels when a member joins
It was nice in Slack to say for the batch of invitees that have been recently invited that they be thrown into channels x, y, z instead of having to manually Add Member to varying channels or ask them to seek out channels and add themselves.
135 votesHey all! The work has now started and we’ve released an experimental setting for default channels.
System Admins can configure default channels via config.json, here is more information about it https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/config-settings.html#default-channels-experimental
Big thanks to @dschalla for contributing this improvement!

Inline webm viewer
Show webm (and maybe mp4 as well if supported compression like x264) inline instead of having to click on the download button to view it. The video can already be played inside the mattermost app, but not inline. Right now our users use unnecessary large gifs to share animations because they work inline in the chat window.

Storage backend open stack swift
For users who don't want to or can't use Amazon S3 or local filesystem, adding support for Open Stack Swift improves the "Cloud portability" of Mattermost, in addition to supporting more use cases.

Add Support for MIRC color codes for formatting text.
Fix it so that MIRC color codes are honored. MIRC color codes are a defacto standard in the IRC world and having support inside of mattrmost will insure a good experience for those using things like matterircd with mattermost.

Easier way to search in a specific channel
The "in:" search operator is useful for power users, but some users don't know how to get the channel ID.
It would be nice to also have something like "Search only in the current channel" checkbox.28 votes -

Move thread to another chanel
Sometime, a thread is created in a channel that is the wrong one.
There should be a way to move this channel into another channel with all its answers (by the original user and/or admin).
This option could be added to the [...] menu of (the first?) message of a thread.

Sub-comment
Hi,
please implement this code to all CSS templates:
.post.same--root.post--comment, .post.same--root.same--user.post--comment {
padding-left: 4em;
}so chat look like this:
http://www.image-share.com/ipng-3649-129.html
We are using it some time, and chat is more clear to read.
Many thanks.

Notifications for replies in threads, and ability to follow/unfollow threads (like slack)
I wish there was a notification setting like in slack to enable the setting "Notify me about replies to threads I'm following"... and then the ability to opt-out of following threads (but following them is automatic for any threads that you start or comment on)

provide system token authentication
We run a couple of scripts that access the Mattermost API, e.g. a script that posts a message to all Town Squares in all teams on our server and a script that creates user accounts (as we allow email login but disable email account creation so that we can control who creates accounts on the server). Right now we have the personal auth token of an administrator hardcoded in the scripts, but obviously this is suboptimal in case the administrator leaves the company, and messages appear to be sent from said administrator.
Therefore it would be great if administrators could create a "system" auth token for certain kinds of integrations that is decoupled from personal accounts.
