  1. Add "edited by admin" when admin edit someone's message

    Team admin can edit users messages (when option is available) but it can be usefull to specify when it's not the user himself that edit, but an admin.

    Proposal: add "(edited by admin)" instead of "(edited")

  2. one file installation on hosted servers

    The installation should be only depending on a ftp-access to a hosted server storing data in flat files. Second best would be mysql connection.

  3. Function 'Automatically Close Direct Messages' shouldn’t close unread Messages

    The function should only close already read messages. If a user is on vacation and comes after ten days back to work, the user should see all unread messages in the sidebar even if the unread message is older than seven days.

  4. Improve High Availability UI

    Some improvements could help administration:

    • In the Cluster Status table, highly the node that the user is currently connected to so it's obvious
    • Provide a way to connect directly to the server on the local port to debug that specific server.

    Any other ideas for improvement?

  5. add a plugin hook for search

    If plugins had a hook when someone performs a search, they could customise the search experience, e.g. by querying other systems and offering those results too (maybe as an ephemeral post).

    I would love to use mattermost search as our cross-platform search provider...

  6. allow message with slack attachments to show there fallback text in email notifications (instead of sending an empty email)

    Hi all,

    We ran into an issue where messages sent that consist of an attachment as per:
    https://docs.mattermost.com/developer/message-attachments.html 1
    don’t show anything in email notifications. I was wondering if this was intended?

    I can imagine sending the formatted text is difficult, but part of the message attachment is a fallback string and including this in the email notification should be feasable.

  9. When sharing something from mobile browser to the Mattermost app, it should remember the last channel shared to as the new default

    When you share something from the mobile browser to the Mattermost Android app, it does not remember the last channel that was shared to.

    For example, the Mattermost app defaults to channel A because that is the last used channel. When I share a link from the Chrome browser to Mattermost, it will default to channel A, but in this case I opted to share to channel B. The next time I share a link, it will still default to channel A despite my last share being to channel B.

  12. Using hashtags to trigger mentions

    Currently it is not possible to configure hashtags to trigger a mention.
    Example: if "#release" is configured as a word that triggers mentions using this hashtag in a message doesn't trigger a notification. if "release" is configured as trigger, both "release" and "#release" in a message trigger a notification.

    (our current workaround for notification purposes is to only use words in hashtags that are usually not used in messages - which can lead to unwanted notifications)

  15. Is there any plan to integrate Mattermost with CiviCRM?

    We use CiviCRM for our basic admin as a not for profit. The email system in CiviCRM is clunky. Would be great to link Mattermost in some way so we could bypass the CiviCRM email system and just use Mattermost for most of our team communications.

  16. Make the hosting application detect the white-window crash state, and automatically reload.

    Summary

    We apparenlty have a server issue causing the Mattermost window to go white with no activity on my behalf. View->Refresh recovers it, but how come I have to do that manually?

    Steps to reproduce

    version 4.2.0 on Linux.

    1. Log in and leave it until it goes white - roughly once or twice most days, some days not at all.

    Expected behavior

    It should detect that it's gone white, create some log bundle for creating issues here, and then refresh itself (with perhaps exponential throttling so it doesn't end up in a wild refresh loop if things are really wrong…

    In link to this issue, parameters such like the post_id may be required twice in the paramters and in the body of a request. Keeping only one would be preferable

  20. have system tray icon indicate when not logged in

    The system tray icon is white when I am caught up on reading. It turns amber or red when I have messages to read or direct messages. But it was white all morning. I was curious why everyone was so quiet, but didn't look. Then I went to direct message someone and saw I wasn't even logged in.

    Feature suggestion: system tray icon indicate when not logged in.
