  2. accept symbolic links in the plugins directory

    I administrate a Mattermost Team Edition instance and have separated data that should persist between server upgrades to a directory structure outside the Mattermost installation directory. Paths that I can not reconfigure to their external location are created as symbolic links. Currently this applies to ./config/config.json and ./logs (I could have done the same with ./data I believe, but since this path is configurable I decided to tell Mattermost explicitly about the external location.)

  3. Flag abusive or dangerous posts

    Please give users the ability to flag posts that could be considered abusive, dangerous, or contrary to corporate policies. Once flagged a link to the post would be sent to a specific email address.

  4. Interface changes for view users present in channel and their status

    We all know that the Mattermost interface shows the Channel names in the left sidebar. We have been thinking that the users in that channel should be listed in the left sidebar under that particular channel name with an Expand/Collapse icon/button. If we expand, we should know the user’s status as offline/available, etc.

  5. File upload - Opens a modal where user can enter message to be displayed along with image.

    File upload should trigger a modal to be shown in which user can add more files and also enter corresponding text against the image upload.
    I would like to help in implementing this feature.

  6. Better Upgrade Notification for Old Desktop App

    As of now, we do not have a clear warning message to indicate that a desktop client has compatibility issue (old version) with the latest Mattermost Server version.

    it will be a good idea to have a message (pop up) that detects the desktop client version and remind them to upgrade it to the latest version if it is at least 1.x version behind the current one.

  7. When using the channel reference (~ sign), sort the results with exact matches of name first

    Currently when using the channel reference (~ sign), it sorts the results alphabetically, and it matches these search results based on the display name, the channel URL and the channel purpose.

    It would be better however if it were to sort the direct matches with display name higher/at the top of the list so it would be easier for users to find and navigate to those channels.

  8. When using the channel reference (~ sign), it should only return channels that I am a member of

    Currently when using the channel reference (~ sign), it returns all public channels that matches the search, regardless of whether the user is a member of it or not.

    It would be more efficient to only show channels that the user is currently a part of

  9. Enable a setting to allow sound alerts on a channel basis

    I love that I can get notified when there is a post with a sound. But we have a community channel that a huge number of people belong to where things are discussed that I'm not interested in. I was added to the channel by my boss, and think it would be rude to disconnect. But if I could just turn off the notifications for that channel then I wouldn't be so distracted looking at many many notifications that have nothing to do with me and my work.   10. Mattermost - Dropbox Integration

    As of now, the integration between Mattermost and Dropbox relies on third party setup such as Zapier and Integromat:

    It will be great to have a built in plugin to perform this functionality. For example, send a notification to a channel / direct message when a file is uploaded.

    Allow the user to upload SVGs as custom emoji

    currently only PNG, JPG and GIF are allowed. But when I tried to upload an SVG the Preview rendered, but the saving was not possible because of file extension limitations.

  12. Add support for CSS themes

    I'm not happy with the current theme system. We can change only colors, but I would like to change a bit everything, to get something looking for instance like The Lounge:

  14. Make the user inactive when the user does not belong to a team

    By default, when a user connects to Mattermost, the user gets the "active" status even if the user does not belong to a team.
    Is it possible set the status to "inactive" when the user does not yet belong to a team ?

    I would like to have the ability that a user can connect with LDAP and SAML. It means that the user could have two sign-in methods.

  16. Prevent hashtags in code blocks from being counted as hashtags

    Whilst hashtags in code blocks are not highlighted blue and clickable, they do appear in a search for that hashtag and are treated as actualy uses of that hashtag on the back end.

    This causes issues as many code blocks inevitably have hashtags delineating comments.

    Ideally they should be ignored completely, but I reckon the behaviour should at least be consistent.

  18. Image proxy support for normal proxy servers

    Mattermost image proxy supports atmos/camo Image Proxy and local image proxy. Support should be added for normal proxies that one would set via HTTPSPROXY environment variable. I need images to go through a proxy but I don't want to see HTTPSPROXY for entire application.
