  1. LaTeX equation rendering in mobile app

LaTeX is integrated in a very useful way in the desktop app (Linux and MacOS as far as I can see). However, on iOS as well as Android LaTeX appears as a code snippet. Unfortunately, I cannot offer to contribute this feature myself, but I would highly appreciate equation rendering also in the mobile app.

  2. Have the option for a test license for existing enterprise license holders

It would be incredibly helpful for enterprise license holders to be able to generate a sort of test license, so that they can set up a test instance with all the features of Enterprise instances (such as LDAP, SAML, etc) so they can test out their settings first before implementing them into their production instance.

  3. Inline Code highlighting

Can there be a way to also change the inline code colors, for both background and text color. So we can configure the client to be more appealing and it can be seen easily.

  6. Distinguishing Between Users Compact Mode

In compact view, it is difficult to tell users apart. The color of the user's name is the same as the message itself. Perhaps a smaller display image, or coloring their name. I don't even use compact view now becuase it's too hard to tell who said what.

    Thanks!

  8. Configurable default value of "Display Clock" 12-hour or 24-hour

Currently the default Display Clock for a new user is set to 12-hour clock.
In Europe we use the 24-hour clock for the most of us.
We therefore propose to make it possible to set the default "DisplayClock" in the config.json file.
In the "bulk-loading-data-format" it can be specified that "usemilitarytime" should be used. That is what we would like in the config.json

  10. Improve the inline display of attached photos on mobile

The current image display on iPhone with the file properties listed to the side of the image doesn't allow the user to really see what the image is. Instead, the user must click the image every time. The current format gives more emphasis to the image properties than it does the image. When typically the user really only cares about seeing the image.

It would dramatically improve usability if it functioned similar to the web app/browser. Display a fullwidth image with the file name on a separate row above it.

  11. Function 'Automatically Close Direct Messages' shouldn’t close unread Messages

The function should only close already read messages. If a user is on vacation and comes after ten days back to work, the user should see all unread messages in the sidebar even if the unread message is older than seven days.

  12. Support multiple AD/LDAP domains

Currently Mattermost supports AD/LDAP integration to a single AD/LDAP domain. The proposal is for the integration to support multiple AD/LDAP domains.

We have an open ticket for it in our backlog, and this feature proposal is to gauge how popular this feature would be among our user base.

    https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-5751

Note that you can currently configure Mattermost deployments with multiple AD/LDAP domains using a forest structure: https://docs.mattermost.com/deployment/sso-ldap.html#configure-ad-ldap-deployments-with-multiple-domains

  13. *.mov in-line or pop up player support

    In our Mattermost 5.0 instance:

mp4 videos have a play button to launch a preview pop-up.
youtube video (link) will launch an in-line preview
However, .mov files have a play button (just like the mp4) but links to download and not preview.

Question: is there a way to enable .mov file preview in-line or pop-up?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

  14. Add support for Mattermost Custom URL scheme on macOS

    Hello,

MacOS recently added support for custom URL schemes which allows other apps and browsers to open permalinks to content in the native app (rather than in the browser).

The use case would be that when you get an email to a Mattermost permalink, and you click on it in Safari, it'll open in the Mattermost app rather than a new tab in Safari.

The instructions to adopt custom URL schemes can be found here:

    https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/core_app/allowing_apps_and_websites_to_link_to_your_content/defining_a_custom_url_scheme_for_your_app

Thanks a lot for a great product!

  16. Desktop app: Ability to find a permalink

There is no way to navigate to a permalink (the way I can in a browser address bar). This makes collaborating with inbound traffic (e.g. a reference in an email) very hard, I end up switching to a browser. (I realize this might be borderline feature request, but the lack of handling is specific to this client, or my ignorance of how to use it.)

    1. Get permalink from existing post
    2. Switch to different channel, same team
    3. Paste full link (or just token ID) into search
    4. Nothing found

  18. Desktop app: Minimize to tray when clicking on the icon

Currently, we have to close the windows in order to minimize to tray.

But a lot of similar apps, like Riot, allow minimizing to tray by clicking on the tray icon, which is much more convenient.

    Please consider adding this.

  19. Set default zoom in preferences

I need to run Mattermost desktop client at about 4 control-+ levels of zoom. Can you please implement a default level of zoom in preferences for text? I doubt there's a way to isolate images vs text zoom, but at least being able to set a default overall zoom would help. It might also be helpful to have an option to control "compactness" of content in that at this zoom level it would help to have text a bit more compact (ie, less vertical line height).

  20. When sharing something from mobile browser to the Mattermost app, it should remember the last channel shared to as the new default

When you share something from the mobile browser to the Mattermost Android app, it does not remember the last channel that was shared to.

For example, the Mattermost app defaults to channel A because that is the last used channel. When I share a link from the Chrome browser to Mattermost, it will default to channel A, but in this case I opted to share to channel B. The next time I share a link, it will still default to channel A despite my last share being to channel B.

It would be very convenient if the Mattermost app would…
