While system administrator are limited to only have the following methods to create / import users:
* Local users: mattermost user create CLI, direct invite, team invite link
* External users: LDAP / AD / SAML
It will be good to have the ability to use CSV or Excel file to bulk import the users with specific formatting especially if the organization has a lot of customers and is not utilizing AD / LDAP / SSO.4 votes
Whilst hashtags in code blocks are not highlighted blue and clickable, they do appear in a search for that hashtag and are treated as actualy uses of that hashtag on the back end.
This causes issues as many code blocks inevitably have hashtags delineating comments.
Ideally they should be ignored completely, but I reckon the behaviour should at least be consistent.1 vote
I would like to have the ability that a user can connect with LDAP and SAML. It means that the user could have two sign-in methods.
We have a case that could be solved with this new feature.1 vote

It'd be great if in the integrations you could assign a bot account ownership of a webhook.17 votes
By default, when a user connects to Mattermost, the user gets the "active" status even if the user does not belong to a team.
Is it possible set the status to "inactive" when the user does not yet belong to a team ?1 vote
Make history of last channels with part of last message on CTRL+K window. Because when you have many chat channels, it becomes difficult to navigate between them and remember where was your last important conversation.1 vote
In Windows, when you make a right-click on the notification tray icon, it would be nice to add a "Change status" option to switch easily between online, away, or busy.3 votes
It would be nice to be able to click/drag the sidebar (where channels are) and resize it/ hide it if desired.
Resizing it and having a channel name abbreviated with ... could make sense;
ex: Town Square once it starts getting cut off would become Tow... (depending on how small you make the sidebar). Then if you go over far enough it snaps into a hidden position77 votes
This was completed before:
But it looks like it only works in the full view when the left blue sidebar with channels is showing, not when the window is smaller and hides the sidebar.3 votes
As described at https://forum.mattermost.org/t/auth0-single-sign-on/6728
As a mattermost administrator, I want to be able to configure authentication with Auth0 as an identity provider. Auth0 supports a variety of standards, so it might be best to implement it as OpenID Connect.12 votes
The docs explains that:
"IP addresses, for example 10.100.200.101, do not return results."
I would like to be able to search on ip-strings from my messages.87 votes
I'm not happy with the current theme system. We can change only colors, but I would like to change a bit everything, to get something looking for instance like The Lounge:
Things I would like to change:
- borders + shadow and radius
- margins and paddings
It would be quite easy if we could upload a piece of CSS based on a few class selectors. Like:
box-shadow: 0 0 25px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.75);
For guest accounts, right now they have to authenticate manually via credentials.
It would be useful for the guests if there could be a link that they can use to instantly authenticate into the server.0 votes
Currently guest accounts are permanent until removed by the admins.
It would be more convenient and secure if guest accounts have an automatic expiry date after a certain period of time.0 votes
Currently when we enable 2FA authentication, it is either enabled for all users or not at all, without any option to have a more granular approach.
It would be great if we can enable 2FA authentication only for specific IP ranges based on the configurations of the admins.0 votes

There should be a 'Buzz' to alert the other user. Like, Spark, Yahoo.
Sometimes we have messaged to another user. But user is busy on another task. He/She missed the messages which is very important.
In this case, the user should have a 'Buzz' button or shortcut for alert to someone. I hope everyone knows about the importance of 'Buzz'. :)6 votes
As of now, we do not have a clear warning message to indicate that a desktop client has compatibility issue (old version) with the latest Mattermost Server version.
it will be a good idea to have a message (pop up) that detects the desktop client version and remind them to upgrade it to the latest version if it is at least 1.x version behind the current one.1 vote
I would like to add a string to the header and purpose every time it is changed via a plugin, but this is currently not possible as there is no hook for channel metadata in the plugin API.23 votes
