add newlines with CTRL+ENTER (like in Slack and Skype)
this is the opposite of the current setting:
ENTER inserts a new line and CTRL+ENTER submits the message.8 votes -

How to change the Notification Sound in Mobile and Desktop?
Hello,
I am using Mattermost Android app to receive notification and messages. But it is very confusing to distinguish between other notification and Mattermost notification.
It takes the default notification tone of mobile and desktop.
Please provide the option to change the notification sound or if there is any method to do that then please let me know.

Integration with osTicket
It would be great to have an integration with the osTicket platform to be able to receive notifications of new tickets or ticket updates.
In addition, it would be even better to be able to send messages to the osTicket API to create new tickets.

Send a notification to the mobile app when the sesson is expired
Currently, there is no way for a user to know that their mobile session expired without opening their app and checking it manually. This causes users to potentially miss out important messages as they may not realize that they are signed out.
To solve this, it would be best if the Mattermost mobile app sent a notification when the session is expired, so the user is aware of it and can sign back in.

allow different themes to be selected for mobile versus desktop/web app.
Use case: dark theme desired on mobile, default theme for desktop.

Add option to wrap text in code-blocks when using syntax highlighting
Add option to wrap text in code-blocks when using syntax highlighting.
Currently, if you use code-blocks like so:
some very long text .....
It will wrap as expected and no horizontal scrollbar will appear. However, if you specify syntax highlighting, like so:
c++
Some very long text ....
It will not wrap and introduce scrollbars. I think it'd be nice to have some option to force wrapping, even when doing syntax highlighting.Side note: Is this actually a bug? Or is it expected?

Private channels and messages to be sorted by the date of last received message
I think it would be preferable for the list of private channels and messages to be sorted by the date of last received message.
Currently this list is sorted alphabetically and it's impossible to find last messages if you receive a lot of it.8 votes -
ui customization
I think it's necessary to have at least option like font size which can be changed by user, especially for phones whose screen is small.
Further more, if we can choose to hide the time stamp, the user name (in private chat), we would be able to focus on the messages themselves.

Filter Unread Channels across All Teams rather than a Single Team
I’d like to see if there’s a feature allowing users to filter unread channels across all teams/channels of which a user is a member. With the current version (5.32.1), we are able to filter unread channels within a single team, which requires us to have to manually click on each team and filter the unread channels within that team. In my case, I am a member of 12 teams (each representing different departments) so having to navigate to each team to filter unreads feels rather cumbersome.
Is this a feature that already exists that I may have missed or has…

Display all unsent draft messages in one place
Every once in a while, I stumble upon an old draft I started typing, never finished or sent, in various locations (public / private channels, direct messages, threads...). It's nice that the icon next to the location is sometimes showing clearly that I have a draft there, but with many channels/DMs/threads I still risk losing a draft.

mmctl command to clean-up orphaned files
As it is now, we will probably have to write a custom lambda funtion that scans the entire S3 bucket, tries to match the files with the associated channels, and removes them if not found. Not even sure if this is possible, there are alot of id's in the pathname of the files, so my guess is one of them is the channel id, however, this we still need to confirm.

data retention/purge in open source edition
I occasionally check in, to see, if mattermost is usable, now.
Instead, you made it worse.
You deleted the original thread from years ago:
https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/36989788-make-data-retention-and-prune-reset-clear-availablThis is still wide open:
https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457/suggestions/15357861It would be nice to propose switching to mattermost, but as it stands, it is still unusable.
There's clearly a need:
https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/46891111-mmctl-command-to-clean-up-orphaned-filesEven though few people are aware this 'uservoice'.exists, many people have asked repeatedly over years.
I voted for the first time (couldn't bother signing up so far). But reading this post, this is at least from 2016. Seems you do not care for new users.

Migrate users from email to GitLab authentication provider using CLI
I would like to have an opportunity to migrate users from email to GitLab authentication provider - mmctl user migrate-auth email gitlab users.json
Currently, it is possible to migrate only to ldap or saml.GitHub Issue - https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost/issues/24425

Allow response from outgoing webhooks
In slack an outgoing webhook can reply with:
Hi, I have a (working) slack webhook that responds with like:{ "text": "Thanks! Build was queued" }
These responses are ignored by mattermost currently. It would be great if they worked too.

Sync between redundant servers
In 2015, GitHub user titanous proposed adding support for more than one instance of the API server. (https://github.com/mattermost/platform/issues/402) It was suggested that it would be added before the 1.0 release, but the issue has since been closed without any changes. Since I didn't see this feature requested in this forum, I thought I would post it so that the community can vote on it.
I work with a team of five, all of whom have personal servers, one of which hosts our Mattermost instance. It would be useful for us if we could host as many as five…7 votes -
Microsoft Active Directory SSO with reverse proxy REMOTE_USER
For advanced enterprises with sophisticated authentication requirements, this feature would allow authentication through REMOTE_USER information passed in via HTTP headers
This feature requires a fundamental change to the Mattermost user model so that users can exist outside of teams.
Several threads have discussed this feature:
