EE: Single-Channel Guests for non-team members
For IT policy compliance, offer the ability to invite non-team members users to Mattermost as "single-channel guests" to have access to read and write to one channel and direct message any other users in that channel.
Potential scenarios include opening discussions with non-team members, including customers, vendors, partners and interview candidates.

Adding users to group DM should provide an option to keep history
When you have a multi user direct message and you add new members (as a conversation grows to need more people) you end up creating a new DM with no history. Instead mattermost should provide an option to keep the history available.

allow admins to set the default channels when a member joins
It was nice in Slack to say for the batch of invitees that have been recently invited that they be thrown into channels x, y, z instead of having to manually Add Member to varying channels or ask them to seek out channels and add themselves.
135 votesHey all! The work has now started and we’ve released an experimental setting for default channels.
System Admins can configure default channels via config.json, here is more information about it https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/config-settings.html#default-channels-experimental
Big thanks to @dschalla for contributing this improvement!

Enable omission of message snippets in email notifications
For organizations with advanced compliance requirements, this feature should enable a System Administrator to omit the inclusion of message contents in email notifications.

make administrators able to look into private chats
In corporate environments it is sometimes necessary on legal grounds to check an employees communication. Usually the management asks the IT therefor to deliver ones communication. Currently an administrator is neither able to view the existing private chats from any user nor is there an export function to extract all users content from the database

Mattermost Bulk Export Single / Selected Team
While the current Bulk Export Tool - https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/bulk-export.html#running-the-bulk-export-command - allows backend admins to export all the teams based on the following command:
sudo ./mattermost export bulk /home/user/bulk_data.json --all-teams
It will be great to have the ability to export single / selected team to remove any "inactive" teams when moving / migrating systems around.
The current workaround of removing unwanted teams from the export file is not ideal for instances that have a large number of teams.

Blacklist certain file types from being uploaded to Mattermost
Sample use case: Block .exe files from being uploaded to prevent malicious executables from being downloaded.
In addition to .exe, also interested in blocking PDF files and compressed files.

Chatting to Golang Bot through direct message
Hello, I have the golang bot implemented into a mattermost channel.
It would be helpful to have an option for users to ask the bot questions in a Direct message as opposed to just a public channel.
I feel that this would encourage users to use the bot more and help shy users as well. That way there can be some sort of privacy between users.
Also, a way to have a log for Admins to keep track of what questions are being asked will be helpful in developing the bot further.36 votes -
User folders sorted by department or server group
I got asked by a colleague if it is possible to sort the Users because he had about 60+ Users in the Direct Messages section.
It would be nice if you can sort it by a specified department (or Position) or that you can create User groups (with specific permissions for example) and that they get sorted in categories like this.
An other way could be that everyone can create custom folders with users in it and can expand it if needed.

Override "I forgot my password" for AD/LDAP Authentication
When using AD/LDAP authentication for the Mattermost Enterprise server there is still an "I forgot my password" link. I suggest that you allow Administrators to override where that link points to. For example, I would like that link to point to my corporate password reset and unlock portal. And/or allow administrators to turn that link off. This could be a part of the "Custom Branding" options on the Enterprise version.
27 votesYou can remove the “forgot password link” by
- setting “Enable sign-in with email” to false
- setting “Enable sign-in with username” to falseThat said, we’ll keep this feature proposal open for customizing the “I forgot my password” link.

Allow Team Admins to see statistics for their Team
Currently only System Admins can see individual team statistics information but it would be helpful to allow team admins to see their own team's statistics.

Use the preferred_username claim as the Mattermost username for OpenID Connect.
OpenID Connect (OIDC) has been added to the latest Mattermost Enterprise Edition. However, Mattermost seems to use the user's email address as the Mattermost username.
According to the OIDC specification, the standard response contains a preferred_username claim and the value of this field should be used as the user name.
When the preferred_username field of some IdPs is a mailbox (e.g. Google Login), only then is the mailbox prefix considered as the username.

search in bots' messages
We use MM EE integrate with GitLab EE, so "bots" from GitLab post issues / comments / merge requests to our channels. Today I discovered that MM Search feature does not search (or index?) messages send by such bots as it does not consider them as char participants (from: autocomplete does not offer bots' names, only humans). Is there a setting affecting this or it's by design? Thank you.

The button to go to the last message
Hello to all friends
I think it is very necessary to place a button to go to the last message in the channel.
