allow admins to set the default channels when a member joins
It was nice in Slack to say for the batch of invitees that have been recently invited that they be thrown into channels x, y, z instead of having to manually Add Member to varying channels or ask them to seek out channels and add themselves.
Hey all! The work has now started and we’ve released an experimental setting for default channels.
System Admins can configure default channels via config.json, here is more information about it https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/config-settings.html#default-channels-experimental
Big thanks to @dschalla for contributing this improvement!

There seems to be a bug with this. If I set the channels and create a new team then the channels are automatically created for the team according to the cli but they do not appear as public channels (they do no appear at all, but if i try to create a channel with the same url then it tells me it is already used) (Mattermost Version: 5.19.1
Database Schema Version: 5.19.0 with Gitlab)
Thank you! -

This seems like a duplicate of the "allow admins to set the default channels when a member joins" ( https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/20226055-allow-admins-to-set-the-default-channels-when-a-me ). If this suggestion fits your needs, please consider upvoting it!

We have a channel called "How to use Mattermost" and post good ideas and guidelines, on how to use our new Mattermost installation best.
We'd love to give a channel the attribute "default channel", so that everyone who joins the team automatically joins this channel.
In our case, in this channel, he/her will learn how to join other channels ;-)
But this might also be good for defining a basic structure.
