Member list on side of chat window w/ status indicator
Show a member list on the side of the chat window listing all the users that are in the current room, sorted by status and then name (so that logged out users are at the bottom).
This seems critical to communication .. who's in the room, who's online, who am I talking to, am I in the right room before typing @everyone, etc. At a glance. The little member button with drop down is insufficient especially in rooms with hundreds of people.
This is a repost, but the original is…

Show number of flagged message on the top right corner flag icon
No indication of flagged messages unless click the top right corner flag icon and see the flagged messages on the appearing panel.
It would be a nice improvement to have a number on/inside of the flag to see how many (or least one) message is flagged without activate the panel.Would be useful, because no possible to mark a message unread but sometime just no time to answer, so flag is a good feature for that... but if you busy maybe you even forget you flagged a message.

Add a pin icon directly accessible
Would it be possible to have an icon to pin a message directly, without having to click on the 3 dots? The solution would be either next to the "Flag" icon on the left (my prefered solution, like the picture below), or next to the Emoji icon on the right?

It would, specially on API dev, be a strong plus ;)3 votes -
Enforce MFA as permission.
Make enforce MFA a permission so you can assign it to specific group(s).
Some businesses do want to enforce MFA for some groups and some not.2 votes -
Miniature (icon) Mugshot in leftmost Direct Messages pane, shown before name
In the “Direct Messages” leftmost pane show a miniature mugshot, in addition to the persons name shown. The same mugshot /image as shown in message conversation list view.
Sometimes the name is not know or remembered, but the face is not easily forgotten (unless your blind) and might be recognized, when initiating a conversation.
My list contain about 100 developers, many with similarly sounding names and it would ease when trying to find the right developer.
When having many contacts often the names becomes very similar i.e John A Smith, John B Smith, John C Smith.
Which of those is…

Enable the Mattermost mobile app for Intune app protection policies
Microsoft provides an SDK to enable app protection policies to be applied via Intune. Adding this functionality would be a huge benefit for clients that leverage Intune as their MDM and have data protection requirements that prevent data transfer between managed and non-managed apps.
More information available here:

Add a feature to create custom command alias within Mattermost client
We would like a feature to allow leveraging slash command integrations so that users could create custom aliases locally. For instance, one of our integration commands is '/zoom' with additional arguments of 'join' and '<meeting ID>'. We would like to be able to create a custom alias so that a user could always include the arguments along with the slash command without entering 'join' and their 'meeting ID' each time they use the integration.

Implement custom team shortnames
Currently the team list shows the first two letters of the team name, if no custom icon is provided. It would be great if these two letters could be configured, so that they can be different from the first two letters of the team name.

Allow a channel to broadcast messages to several teams
I would like to enable our Product Owner to broadcast information to several teams at once without inviting her to every team (which makes not that much sense because she isn’t a team member but the PO).

Include Racially Diverse Emojis
Currently, all of the default emojis (people, hands, etc) on the desktop app have a light yellow skin tone. Since you are already using apple emojis, it would be awesome to integrate the ability to change the skin and hair tone of these emojis.

Improve the inline display of attached photos on mobile
The current image display on iPhone with the file properties listed to the side of the image doesn't allow the user to really see what the image is. Instead, the user must click the image every time. The current format gives more emphasis to the image properties than it does the image. When typically the user really only cares about seeing the image.
It would dramatically improve usability if it functioned similar to the web app/browser. Display a fullwidth image with the file name on a separate row above it.

Directory of public channels/channels I can have access to
A user should be able to easily see & search the list of all channels they have joined and can join. I'm seeing a number of duplicate channels created across teams because the user did not know it existed in another location.

Allow selecting and deleting multiple messages at once
Allow Channel Admins to be able to enter "select" or "edit" mode where checkboxes appear next to the messages.
Admins would be able to select messages one by one or to select a range of messages by clicking the first one, holding Shift button and selecting the last one (like we've used from other software). After selecting multiple messages, Admins would be able to delete them at once, or perform any other action that might be implemented during the development (move, archive, flag, something else).
This feature would make it a lot easier to delete whole bunches of off-topic messages…

Desktop app: Don't require 'http://' or 'https://' when entering server name on desktop
When users are on-boarding, every one of them has issues with the server URL, because they don't expect to have to enter http:// or https://

Desktop app: Help menu should be accessible by keyboard under Windows
On the Windows client, the "Help" menu is not accessible by keyboard. This is because both the "History" and the "Help" menu have the same accelerator letter "H" assigned, so Alt+H opens the "History" menu (presumably because it comes first). Furthermore, the menu bar doesn't follow the normal Windows UI convention that you can toggle keyboard focus from/to the menu bar by presing just the Alt key, and that you can navigate between menus using the left/right arrow keys when keyboard focus is on the menu or menu bar, thereby preventing the other way the "Help" menu could be accessed…

Desktop: Auto-hide menubar on Linux
Most Electron apps on Linux have an option to autohide the menubar, typically in the View or Window menus. Mattermost would fit in better if it did, too.

Desktop app: Ability to find a permalink
There is no way to navigate to a permalink (the way I can in a browser address bar). This makes collaborating with inbound traffic (e.g. a reference in an email) very hard, I end up switching to a browser. (I realize this might be borderline feature request, but the lack of handling is specific to this client, or my ignorance of how to use it.)
- Get permalink from existing post
- Switch to different channel, same team
- Paste full link (or just token ID) into search
- Nothing found

Have OS X client integrate with native system text services
In all other OS X apps, including Chrome, a variety of standard system services will be available to use with the selected text. For example, looking up the selected word in the dictionary or searching for it on the web. Users can also install custom text services systemwide.
