  1. IOS/Android local notifications

Use local notifications when the app is running or in background. I know that encrypted push notifications are supported when using the enterprise version, but it would be very handy if the app would support local notifications when running in background or foreground for new messages.
This creates the ability to use the app without sending data around the world.

  2. Boards on mobile

It would be great to have access to MM boards on the mobile app, integrated with my existing boards on the desktop and web app. This would allow users to view and update their board tasks from their Boeing Phone, when not logged into our laptop.

  3. LaTeX equation rendering in mobile app

LaTeX is integrated in a very useful way in the desktop app (Linux and MacOS as far as I can see). However, on iOS as well as Android LaTeX appears as a code snippet. Unfortunately, I cannot offer to contribute this feature myself, but I would highly appreciate equation rendering also in the mobile app.

  4. Implement Support to "Share" Feature

most of the social apps have “Share” feature. There are two ways. “Share From Mattermost To …” and “Share From … To Mattermost”

Those allow integration between apps and make it easier to add messages and links to Mattermost.

    Cheers

  5. Allow MFA Push Notification Approval for Apps such as DUO

Currently If you approve an MFA push notification from the same screen it works but if you open the MFA app to approve the authentication is goes back to the login page. We have tried it on Android and IOS devices. Can you please add this as a feature? They have a free version of DUO for 10 users you can do testing. https://duo.com/pricing/duo-free 1

  8. iOS and Android apps should allow users to bypass certificate warning

iOS and Android apps should allow users to bypass certificate warning. Some of us don't have proper certs and use the application for small teams, and don't have the resources to get proper web certificates.

  10. Allow setting to enable message sending through 'Return'

So I understand that in iOS version 3.3.0, there was a change to disable messages from being sent after pressing the 'Return' key.

My team is coming from WhatsApp so the default is to send a message using the 'Return' key.

I would suggest adding a configuration item that would allow users to make this change as it's really based on personal preference.

    Would fix: https://github.com/mattermost/ios/issues/39

  11. Change iOS notification sound

On the iOS platform there doesn’t appear to be a way to customize the sound made for a new message alert. And worse still, it makes a rather generic default iPhone “ding” sound that just disappears among all the other noise my phone constantly makes.

It would be really ideal if that sound can either be changeable by the user, or at least unique enough to be easily recognized (think the tweet sound from the twitter app for example).

A way to achieve this could be by exposing a settings configuration option that allows the user to choose from sounds…

  13. iOS Timeout/Logout Notification

    iOS Timeout/Logout Notification

Based on being automatically logged out every 3 days; it has been a consistent problem having people recognize when they are no longer on and thus not receiving messages (iPhones wise at least). This has already been implemented for Android CAO 2018 according to the search bar.

  14. Prevent keyboard from hiding after sending on native mobile apps.

Keyboard hides after clicking send button.

It would be better to persist the keyboard on screen after sending a message. This is a common use case for users to who want to send separate messages instead of creating paragraphs.

Hiding the keyboard should be triggered by the 'Done' button or touching the message display area.

  15. Private metadata on mobile notifications

My organization is using Mattermost heavily, and we'd like to receive mobile notifications to make it more useful. However, currently Mattermost shares a lot of metadata with Apple's and Google's servers:

    https://docs.mattermost.com/mobile/mobile-faq.html#what-post-metadata-is-sent-in-mobile-push-notifications

This is preventing us from enabling notifications.

I'd like to suggest that you treat the Apple and Google push notification services just as a "wake up" signal, without including user ID, team ID, etc. The mobile app would then connect (via TLS) to its server, download any new messages, and generate local notifications based on those.

I recently spoke with someone on the Mattermost team who suggested that…

  16. Support keyboard shortcuts on iOS

As on the desktop, keyboard shortcuts are a huge improvement regarding efficiency and usability.

iPads are more and more used with keyboards and Apple provides an easy way to add keyboards shortcuts to an app.
So it would be great if without touching the iPad screen we could :
    - Switch to a channel/conversation (jump to)
    - Send a message
    - Search in the team
    - Switch between teams

    Thanks

  17. Allow selection/copy of table data in android app

A table of data when displayed in the Android app (not sure of others) doesn't allow for selection and copy of its data. Regular messages do, why not table data? Can we be allowed to select and copy table data?

  18. Schedule do not disturb

Users should have the option to set do not disturb status (or offline) based on a time schedule, or for the next X number of hours. A user would define the time DND should be active and the app would switch status during that time period. Currently users wishing to stop notifications must manually set DND status. But the user must also remember to reset the status. This allows users to define a time when they do not want to receive alerts/notifications.

  19. Improve the inline display of attached photos on mobile

The current image display on iPhone with the file properties listed to the side of the image doesn't allow the user to really see what the image is. Instead, the user must click the image every time. The current format gives more emphasis to the image properties than it does the image. When typically the user really only cares about seeing the image.

It would dramatically improve usability if it functioned similar to the web app/browser. Display a fullwidth image with the file name on a separate row above it.
