  1. Provide option to authenticate using a SAML based iDP

    Many organizations are using SAML iDP's, like SecureAuth, PingFederate and Okta, to manage authentication of their users. The ability to allow organizations to select this authentication option would make this more appealing.

    Like or +1 concept from social networks for single messages.
    Should display the number of likes near the message-title.

  5. Channel option to count every message as mention

    We have several channels, with only purpose - bot notification on some actions. People who interests - can join such channels. But some people don't satisfied only desktop notifications - they want email and push notifications on every message in such channels. But this kind of notifications only applied to mentions.

  6. Option to push-notify to mobile even when logged in elsewhere

    The following would be great:
    An Option to push-notify even when logged in elsewhere:
    a) push notifications are only sent when the user is logged out everywhere (Status quo)
    b) push notifications are sent even when user is logged in currently

    Probable Use Case: Stil logged in on Desktop in the Office, but being on the road with a smartdevice

  7. Remove the toolbar when sending message (the "Done" button is not necessary)

    When writing a message you have a "done" button next to the input field.
    Clicking that closes the keyboard.

    I would rather see that it sends the message (stolen from other apps such as message, slack, whatsapp and many more)

  11. When the team URL can't be loaded during app startup, automatically reload every 30 seconds

    When I start up my laptop and I'm travelling, I initially don't have internet access. After it starts up I connect it via Bluetooth. I usually forget that (unlike Slack), if Mattermost didn't successfully load the page when it started, then it just sits there waiting for manual intervention to reload the page.

    Instead, if the page can't be loaded (the "Failed to load the URL" page), Mattermost desktop should automatically reload the page every 30 seconds until it loads successfully.

  14. Allow auto-signup with SSO/Gitlab

    In a SSO/OAuth environment it makes sense to allow auto-signup. if login succeeds and there is no account yet, just create the account and sign in. The current oauth signup basically does this already. Im proposing to remove that step and move that functionality into the login button.

  15. Add option to bounce icon in OS X dock for notification, in addition to or instead of the current notification system.

    There should be a setting allowing the user to specify that they want the mattermost dock icon to bounce upon a notification. It should remain bouncing until the application is brought to the front again by the user.

    Ideally, they could also choose to have it only bounce on mentions.

  16. Add sub-channels/groups or folders

    With a lot of groups/channels ,the sidebar becomes very cluttered. A collapsable hierachy with sub-channels/groups would be great.

    Or, easier to implement I guess, the ability to group channels/private groups into folders.

  17. Swipe from left to show menu (Android)

    In all other Android apps, swiping from the left of the screen reveals the navigation drawer.

    Only in Mattermost, you have to go press that small button at the top-left, which is a pain, especially on nowadays' big screens.

  18. Jump to conversation

    It would be great to have something like slack, when you hit STRG + K.
    Slack brings up "Jump to conversation, which essentially is a quick dial for private chats or for channels.

  19. Make it easier to direct message users from channel

    When reading a channel, it's sometimes desirable to direct message a user after reading a message they posted. Right now you have to either find their name on the message list or use the upcoming /msg command. There seems to be a missed opportunity for messaging them from their username though. Clicking on their name opens a popover, but you can't actually send a message from it. I'd propose either double clicking their name opens a DM or putting a link to open a DM in the popover.   20. Android App: System Notifications

    The Android App works great. It would be great if the app could create Android system notifications.
    Otherwise you have to open the app to see if there are new notifications (or leave the email notifications enabled).
