Like or +1 concept from social networks for single messages.
Should display the number of likes near the message-title.

It is still all about communication and this is between people.
I would love to "Like" chat partner for a chat, which solves my problems or guided me the right way. It should be possible to give "stars" for each answer and the user and its stars count should be visible. (seen also on eBay) -

Where does the Like goes to? the message itself or the sender of the message - to improve the overall netiquette

This is pretty cool, and it could double as a makeshift solution to create Polls (which is a feature that has over 160 votes https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/11721996-polls-like-doodle-or-for-decision-making), it could work by typing a message per option, and then people vote/like one the ones they like)
