  1. We need "(managerable) Closed Public Channel / Nonstealth private group"

as we like the style of discussion coming up to several topics, a lot customers we work with, make us work with an NDA. So we are not allowed to discuss work related stuff with people, that did not sign this NDA. Ok. We could go with Private Groups. BUT: this is invite only. Sometimes it would be helpful to be able to "see" that there are several topics that might be of my intrest, so i would like to ask the admin to let me join. So I would like to have different "Channel Modes" like : administrate channe…

  2. Purge Inactive Users

It would be great to be able to purge users who have not logged into the site in a definable window.

  3. Prevent changing first and last name changes when using LDAP

It would be great if you could prevent users from changing their first and last names when using LDAP authentication.

  4. Ability to customize the chat display/layout

Add a way to customize the display of the chat in the web interface. Currently a single message takes up two lines of text. If each message could be formatted as desired, the layout could be tailored to each users preference.

For example (with overly descriptive variable names):
    %SENTTIME%| %SENDER%> %MESSAGE%
    Would result in:
    15:56| Kristian> Hello world!

To build the current view, you could do:
    %AVATAR% %SENDER% %SENTTIMEAGO%\n%MESSAGE%

    Or something like that.

As a long time IRC user, I feel that the WebUI for mattermost uses way too much space for a simple chat messages. With customized layout, it…

  5. Microsoft Active Directory SSO with reverse proxy REMOTE_USER

For advanced enterprises with sophisticated authentication requirements, this feature would allow authentication through REMOTE_USER information passed in via HTTP headers

This feature requires a [fundamental change to the Mattermost user model](https://forum.mattermost.org/t/unifying-user-accounts-across-teams-for-mattermost-2-2/1126
) so that users can exist outside of teams.

Several threads have discussed this feature:

  6. make private chats able to authorize users based on ldap groups

In corporate Environments often closed discussions take place between persons whose users already exist within predefined ldap groups. For Mattermost it would make sense to authorize users for private channels using such existing ldap groups.

  7. Ability to export all of a specific user's content when required for compliance

    From: https://github.com/mattermost/platform/issues/2291

In corporate environments it is sometimes necessary on legal grounds to check an employees communication. Usually the management asks the IT therefor to deliver ones communication. Currently an administrator is neither able to view the existing private chats from any user nor is there an export function to extract all users content from the database

  8. Multiple concurrent daemons for HA/scalability

I am currently running two mattermost daemons on separate VM's doing exactly the same thing (same nfs share for files, same MySQL cluster backend for database), to have HA.

In my original setup I had them loadbalanced too (meaning individual user sessions got spread over both backends), however I noticed notifications were not always working.

I got over this issue by reconfiguring the loadbalancer and putting the mattermost backends in active/stand-by - all sessions are now assigned to one backend (the 'active' one) until it fails (reboot, upgrade, etc.); then the stand-by becomes active all sessions move to the other.…

  9. Ability to warn users about use of restricted terms

Since Mattermost archives all messages (including deletes and edits), some customers want to warn users before they enter certain content into the permanent record.

This feature would be similar to a speller checker that warn on certain terms, such as confidential terms or expletives.

The checking would happen on the client.
