  1. Show the channel the incoming webhook has been set to

    Currently I cannot find a way to know for which channel has been configured an incoming webhook (in my case, for integration with GitLab).

    In the "Integrations/Incoming Webhooks" section, just appear the name of the webhook and the webhook URL it self, without saying for which channel has been set, and the option of deleting it. And in the GitLab side there's no way to know for which channel will be triggered the hook.

    This come become a problem when you have several webhooks and channels.

  2. Provide Channel description in tooltip in the left panel

    Provide Channel description in tooltip in the left panel

    Currently, we need to go to the channel, then click on the little arrow, then View Info

    Personally, I spent 5 minutes to find this kind of information when I was checking that I didn't miss something and it is not yet available somewhere easily

  3. Daily email notification option

    I have the team version of Mattermost for a small project with friends hosted at my house. The best way to notify my group is via email, however, I can only send so many emails a month through my SMTP server. It would be nice if there was an option for sending a once a day notification added in addition to the instant, 15 min, and hourly.

    It would be also really helpful if I could set this as default for all my users and let them change it if they need to.

  4. rename flag post to bookmarked post

    Users seem to expect that "Flag post" means "Report post" and do not think of it as a way to bookmark posts.

    Especially as in the web-app "flag post" is not displayed along the other post-actions, but instead by the side of the posting username.

    I already filed that as a github issue: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/9990

  5. nano editor

    Some of us prefer nano over vi. It can't be that big of a deal to include nano in the container, can it?

  6. include a Trace option in the logging modes.

    We were having an issue that was causing Mattermost to continually crash for no apparently reason. Nothing was consistent in the log files, debug didn't give enough information, heck I even did an strace on the PID and wasn't able to get anything useful. A Trace option should include DB calls, perhaps a transaction ID to link the API call to the DB call...

  7. Add user_real_name to outgoing slash commands or webhooks

    An outgoing /slash command from mattermost sends information including the token, userid and username in the POST.

    We would also like to see userrealname in the POST, without having to do another API call.

    For example:

    channelid=cniah6qa73bjjjan6mzn11f4ie&
    channel
    name=town-square&
    command=/somecommand&
    responseurl=not+supported+yet&
    team
    domain=someteam&
    teamid=rdc9bgriktyx9p4kowh3dmgqyc&
    text=hello+world&
    token=xr3j5x3p4pfk7kk6ck7b4e6ghh&
    user
    id=c3a4cqe3dfy6dgopqt8ai3hydh&
    username=freddy
    user
    real_name=Fred+Smith

  8. no character length of name when display is set to "real name"

    Now it is set to 24(?)

    For example "Mansoor Nahasapeemapetilon" would be displayed as "Mansoor Nahasapeemapetil..."

    There is enough space to display the whole name.

  9. open the emoji picker with typing ":", followed by pressing Tab

    I'd really like to see the emoji picker that can be activated as described in the title, instead of the ":" followed by minimum of 2 characters as it is at the moment.
    I'm aware of the full picker ticket https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/PLT-2354, but as i understand it doesn't include this feature.

  10. Add emoji management via API

    It would be nice to be able to add / remove custom emojis via API. Then it would be very simple to propose complete packs of custom emojis and apply them.

  11. Add a config show cli command

    For troubleshooting purposes it would be handy to have a platform config show command that lists the effective configuration values. Thus, overriding environment variables must be considered. At least from the wording of platform config validate ('The document is valid'), it seems that environment variables aren't considered.

    There could be filters to mangle the output, but grep is fine, imo.

  12. At present we can render tables, can we have the control to left/right align the tables

    At present we can render tables, can we have the control to left/right align the tables.
    Use case : For me my data is some what large, which can't fit in a screen. If we have the option to right align some tables, i can manage the space.

  13. Delete user avatar from CLI

    We need a way to delete an user avatar with the CLI tool.
    Currently we delete the in data/users/ manually but it would be easier if we could do it by using the email instead of the ID.

  14. Delete an user's private conversations

    In some cases we need to delete all private conversations from an old user but without deleting the user (so it doesn't break continuity in public conversations).
    We use an SQL query:
    SELECT DISTINCT Name FROM Channels INNER JOIN
    (SELECT Id FROM Users WHERE Username LIKE 'Foo')
    sub ON Name LIKE concat('%', sub.Id, '%');
    Then "platform channel delete" to delete the channels.

    But it would be much easier to have a CLI command that does this.

  15. Private message with authorized members only

    Hi, (I am new to this forum but I have installed Mattermost in my organization)

    Is it possible to add a new choice in the administrative console in the option “Allow users to open private message channels with” to request permission to create private messages with members who use the platform.

    Currently, the configuration choices are:

    All members of the team
    Any user on the Mattermost server
    and I would like to add :

    Only authorized members
    To prevent all members from communicating privately without prior notice

    Is it a good idea ?

  16. add anchors to /help/* docs

    Many "normal" users have problems writing markdown when chatting.
    For example, my friend don't know how to add "In-line Images".
    So, I want to send him a link to "In-line Images" section at https://chat.ohze.net/help/formatting
    But I can't because "In-line Images" is not an anchor like, ex https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#stage-1-pm-review (auto added by github for headings in a markdown document)

  17. Proxy third-party http requests through Mattermost server

    It would be very useful if http/s requests from Mattermost clients (web,desktop,mobile) to third party sites (for example analytics calls via js) could be optionally proxied through the Mattermost server itself. In restrictive environments these calls to third parties are often blocked by local security software, causing errors in the client.

  19. API rate limiting whitelist

    It would be really helpful to be able to specify a whitelist of IPs or accounts that can bypass the API rate limit. For instance, I use the API to batch-create lots of user accounts, which generates a high volume of requests. Yet, I don't want to allow such a big volume for any user account/IP address, just for sysops and localhost. Would this be possible?

  20. Support moving channel without adding all members to new team first

    Currently when moving a channel with CLI you must first manually add all users to new team. The CLI should automatically add missing users to new team when moving channel.
