Android smartphones needs to be free of pre-installed apps.. It's really bothersome. Users never use some of pre-installed apps
Android smartphones need to be free of pre-installed apps. It's really bothersome. Users never use some of the pre-installed apps until they put the device in a trash can. Perhaps average users could have used the device even without a SD card if the device would free of pre-installed apps

Send a notification to the mobile app when the sesson is expired
Currently, there is no way for a user to know that their mobile session expired without opening their app and checking it manually. This causes users to potentially miss out important messages as they may not realize that they are signed out.
To solve this, it would be best if the Mattermost mobile app sent a notification when the session is expired, so the user is aware of it and can sign back in.

Mobile app : detect team URLs correctly
When entering the URL in the mobile app, if you include the team name in the URL, it will return an error.
For example, http://test.mattermost.com/mytest will return an error, as it only recognizes the server URL and will only accept http://test.mattermost.com.
The app should either directly redirect the user to the relevant team after logging in, or recognize the server URL regardless of the team URL and log the user into the default team.

Password change on mobile application (Android)
Hello,
It would be great to be able to change our password via the mobile application instead of having to use a web browser or desktop app.

When sharing something from mobile browser to the Mattermost app, it should remember the last channel shared to as the new default
When you share something from the mobile browser to the Mattermost Android app, it does not remember the last channel that was shared to.
For example, the Mattermost app defaults to channel A because that is the last used channel. When I share a link from the Chrome browser to Mattermost, it will default to channel A, but in this case I opted to share to channel B. The next time I share a link, it will still default to channel A despite my last share being to channel B.
It would be very convenient if the Mattermost app would…

Support external keyboard
See issue: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-mobile/issues/2512
When an external keyboard and an on-screen keyboard is used, the chat input text field looses focus as soon as the on-screen-keyboard is hidden, probably because hiding the keyboard changes the screen size and therefore triggers a redraw/relayout. I suggest to fix this.7 votes -
Make the text box background match the rest of the dark theme
When in either of the dark themes on the Android app, the text box has a white background which is super jarring. Can we get it matched with the rest of the theme please?

Android Multi-Window support
Support the Android multi-window feature. Currently, resizing of the application window seemingly crashes the app.

Support Google Apps sign in when using the Android app
You've added Google Apps SSO sign in following suggestion https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/14879976-google-apps-sign-in, but support is still needed in the app interface.

MSI installer for windows client
We need a MSI file for automated (silent) installation. That way you can deploy the application with the group policy of windows.

Mobile: Option to send by pressing Enter
Ability to configure the Enter key behavior: submit the message you are writing instead of create a new line when you press the enter key (it's useful for example if you are using an external keyboard)

Login with QR code
I have a very long password and I would like to keep it. To make it easier to login on the phone it would be great if a QR is code shown on the computer which I can scan. (Where I am already logged into Mattermost.) Similar to Whatsapp where you login like this on the computer.

Add support for Adaptive Icons on Android 8
Android 8 introduced a featured called Adaptive Icons; it lets users pick the shape of icons on their home screen. Supporting this is extremely easy, and only requires 4 lines of XML code. Please add support for this feature in a future release.
Documentation is available here: https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_adaptive.html

Implement emoji picker for Android (same as already implemented for reactions)
A lot of our team members ask for this feature, as using Android's system emoji keyboard leads to ??? on other platforms. Would be really helpful to have an Android emoji picker in the same style which is already implemented for reactions. The current system (typing : and emoji name) is not really working, especially for new team members.

Share pictures from the app
It would be nice if pressing and holding a picture for a few seconds in the chat window would let you share it to other apps. Right now in the React app pressing on a picture in a chat will make it light up a bit, but there's no prompt to do anything with the picture. Also it seems that there's no way to share pictures from within the app in general.
The only other OSS chat app I've found that allows this so far is rocket.chat (but only on their old Cordova app).
