Option for channel specific push notifications
Currently, posh notifications across multiple channels are automatically stacked into a single notification card.
This makes it very difficult to keep tabs on active conversations happening across multiple subscribed channels when the app is it if focus.

Add Markdown support
Support Markdown formatting: that will help us get fancy with our text (bold, italic...) provide link in a convenient way (instead of dumping overlong urls) and above all format code (a must have for developers).
There are many js implementation for markwdown: I usually recommend commonmark: after all, the well tested library used by stackoverflow and github (among others) seem good enough :)

Crtl+K CMD+K searching thru channels
After realization of idea https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/17042614-crtl-k-cmd-k-faster-jumping-to-the-channel (it's great, thanks!) the new idea is to allow user to find channels from 'more channels' using ctrl+K or CMD+K shortcut.
It'll be very useful to find channels where i'm not in but they are somewhere.
Right now if channel is not on my channel list the search tool won't find it and there is a problem - users starting to make a copies of the same threads29 votesThis feature is complete. Use “CTRL /” for a list of keyboard shortcuts available.

Localize user interface / Internationalization
User interface should be localized in different languages, french, spanish .....

Hide message contents in notification popups
Have an option to hide the contents of a message when a notification popup occurs. Just show the channel and that there is a new message. This allows us to keep it private if there is someone over your shoulder looking at your screen.

Crtl+K CMD+K faster jumping to the channel
It'll be very useful to modify this option: allow to find keyword with 'contains' option not only 'starts with'. For example:
Name of the channel is: coolchannel
I want to find phrase channel in channels name.

Sometimes an integration or a talkative user post a very long message, would be great collapse/expand this message :)

Make notification emails multipart (plain-text friendly)
The notification emails are HTML only, which is a pain when you read your mails in plain-text mode (or if you use, say, mutt).
The mails should be multipart : a plain-text version and a HTML one.

Allow reordering teams in desktop application
There seems to be no way to reorder the teams in the desktop application (the order within the tab strip at tthe top of the application window), other than deleting and re-adding the teams in the desired order. It would be useful to be able to reorder the teams in the settings by dragging, or directly in the tab strip.

Display larger emoji
I'd love if the (built in) emoji would be displayed a bit larger. 22px instead of 20px would look great.
And if the message consist only of emoji (one or multiple), the emoji could be rendered considerably larger.

Sort channel when switching with ctrl/cmd+k by unread message
Coming from Slack, I was used to switch channel with ctrl/cmd+k. Mattermost feature for that is a little less performant because autosuggestion is sorted alphabetically. In slack, channel with unread message come first which make easier to switch to a channel where a message was just post.

When you now first open the channel switcher via CMD/CTRL+K, the unread channels are listed first.
This is supported in Mattermost 4.9 and later.

Bring profile photos from AD when AD/LDAP synchronization configured
A lot of AD forests have Profile Photos in them. Mattermost provides no administrative capability to set profile photos. Therefore, just yank them out of AD? Would prevent complex UI from being necessary and give us AD admins a more fancy way :)

when typing code with ```, Enter should not send the message
In Advanced Preferences in Slack there is an option that allows the [enter] behavior to change while in a code block (```).
It would be nice to have this in mattermost.

While Mattermost's image expansion works as expected when the URL ends in .gif, .jpg, etc, image-based links that Slack would expand automatically are not expanded by Mattermost.
For example, post links like the following to a Mattermost channel or DM:

http://imgur.com/gallery/83mmPetc, and note that they do not expand, requiring a user to click on them to view in a new browser tab. It would be nice to have the images auto-expand in-line.

Mattermost 5.3 and later expands shortened (e.g. bitly) links for previewable content such as images and YouTube links.

Android App: System Notifications
The Android App works great. It would be great if the app could create Android system notifications.
Otherwise you have to open the app to see if there are new notifications (or leave the email notifications enabled).Thank you for this great tool!

Channel-specific option for Notifications from Channel-wide mentions "@channel", "@all", and "@here"
Channel-specific option to enable/disable notifications from channel-wide mentions "@channel", "@all", and "@here". Currently they can only be globally toggled in "Account Settings" > "Notifcations" > "Words that trigger metnions" > "Channel-wide mentions @channel, @all, @here".
I want notifications for some channels where I'm the main support person and need to respond to all messages, but do not want notifications on other channels that I never need to reference unless I have a question I'll be asking others.

Add a setting to send email notifications for all messages in channels you belong to
I shouldn't have to be tagged to be notified there was a response to a chat folder I am a member of. Email notifications would be wonderful.

Add (or support) a terminal CLI (ncurses?) interface.
It could be bare-bones compared to the web app, and it could even (from your end) just be an API for terminal interfaces designed by others (like this: https://github.com/evanyeung/terminal-slack), but many people will be using this program almost 100% for text and would love the predictability, scriptability, etc of running this in the terminal.
