Really native iOS app
Current iOS and Android (i heard) are hybrid apps (web app encapsulated to native app by something like Cordova) what means UI is not perfectly integrated with OS what means at least worse UX.
Do you plan to make app with really native UI (native in Cocoa or React Native)?

Documentation of JSON payload format for integrations
I read the Documentation to add custom slash commands. It gives an example of a valid JSON response, see https://docs.mattermost.com/developer/slash-commands.html#creating-integrations-with-commands.
The documentation then says "As mentioned previously" several times when speaking of the JSON payload. But every previous description eventually refers to Slack and its proprietary JSON payload format. So if Slack changes its JSON format and adds or removes fields I have no idea if this is gonna work in Mattermost.Could you please add a page in the documentation which describes the format? Have a option to order the channels as last update time
Now I almost have 40 channels(include direct message channel), it's not easy to find 5 channels which talked to me in last 1 minutes in all my channels and to switch comment between these channels.
Hope there is an option with "by alphabet" or "by the last updated" to control the channels list order.

Let someone get to a public channel with just one hyperlink
Yesterday I tried to share a link to a public channel on mattermost with people who had never visited the site.
Unfortunately when they clicked it they were redirected to the default home page, and not even for the home page for that group. I then found out later that I could get someone there with two hyperlinks (1) an invite link for the group and (2) a direct link to the channel.
I think it would be much easier for someone to be able to click just one hyperlink and be redirected to the page you intended. It would…
4 votesGreat suggestion Vincent! This is in fact fixed in v5.1 release coming on July 16th.
With that release, when the user clicks on a link to a specific channel outside of Mattermost, and goes through the account creation process, they will land on the channel they intended to view.

No need for such a useless timestamp which overloads UI.

Send email as a failover notification option
If a user is not actively receiving a notification (logged out of the web client), there should be an option to receive notifications via email.

Change favicon for new notifications
There is currently support for new notifications via the Notifications API. However, once this notification disappears there are no indications that anything has changed. It would be helpful to change the favicon to indicate when a new, unread message/post has been received. This feature is found in Slack/WhatsApp/Messager currently work.

Detect and parse 3rd party links like twitter, youtube etc.
We would like to see 3rd party links parsed, so a youtube link would provide a preview, a twitter link would show the tweet, an image posted from dropbox would provide a preview image.

Clicking on a search result should bring up the conversation history around that search result
When searching, and search results are found of a conversation, it would be good that clicking that search result brings up the context of that conversation so that the user can easily see what was discussed before and after what was found by search.

The chat wastes a lot of screen space on devices with a large screen.

Auto-notify users when replying to post
When replying to a post, we currently have to tag the user for them to get a notification. It seems like replies should trigger a notification automatically - even better, make it a setting we can turn on or off (although I can't imagine why someone would want it off).

List teams of user in mattermost home page
Since there is a
Find my teamsin home page, so how about go one step further, just list my teams here?So the user no need to remember all of his teams and it's quite easy to find his team.
If we have this feature implemented, then the "Team Directory" could be changed to "Public Teams" means everyone can join in.
So that "Team Directory"(in fact maybe restricted teams) doesn't take the small valued home page because most of mattermost users are can not join into the team.

When the team URL can't be loaded during app startup, automatically reload every 30 seconds
When I start up my laptop and I'm travelling, I initially don't have internet access. After it starts up I connect it via Bluetooth. I usually forget that (unlike Slack), if Mattermost didn't successfully load the page when it started, then it just sits there waiting for manual intervention to reload the page.
Instead, if the page can't be loaded (the "Failed to load the URL" page), Mattermost desktop should automatically reload the page every 30 seconds until it loads successfully.

Provide option to authenticate using a SAML based iDP
Many organizations are using SAML iDP's, like SecureAuth, PingFederate and Okta, to manage authentication of their users. The ability to allow organizations to select this authentication option would make this more appealing.
