Add ability to move mistaken thread replies in a channel to the intended thread
If a user misses replying to a thread in a channel and instead replies directly to the channel, this message is not part of the thread that it was intended to be and the conversation is not clear.
There should be a way for a user or channel admin to move a message to the intended thread inside the channel and keep it inline with the on-going threaded conversation (since everything is timestamped this seems possible).
This would clean up the conversations and mistakes that users will make.

Sending payload in »application/json« for slash commands
Almost all integrations in Mattermost send or receive payloads with a »application/json« content type. Incoming Webhooks, Outgoing Webhooks (configurable, see ticket https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/1649), Interactive Message Buttons… but not »Slash Commands«. Slash Commands are the only integration type, which sends it payload as »application/x-www-form-urlencoded«. Please allow sending a slash command with »application/json«.

Toggle the visibility of bot/webhook messages
I'd like a way to quickly hide/show bot and webhook messages in a channel. It would be easier to have conversations when the channel is regularly "spammed" by bot messages. Could be a simple button in the channel header

Map Lync/Skype for Business user presence to Mattermost
Hi,
We use Lync/Skype for Business as the primary communications tool at my company, but for small project/team communications we use a self-hosted Mattermost server, because it's obviously 9000 times better than SFB.
However, Mattermost (especially the desktop client) does not integrate very well with Windows regarding the user's presence.
Short Scenario:
If I lock my computer, SFB immediately sets my presence toAway
, meanwhile Mattermost doesn't.On the other way around, if I minimize the Mattermost Desktop client to the tray, and I have an other application running on full-screen, after a short period, Mattermost goes to mark…
10 votesHi Kristóf, thank you for suggesting this feature!
Sounds that what you are experiencing is similar to this Help Wanted ticket: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/7721
Would you be open to help contribute to it? If so, we’d be more than happy to guide you through the process. The change would be in our Desktop App which uses Javascript instead of Go.

Add the posibility to select a default team afer login
Add the possibility to set a "default" team for every user. Currently the teams i am a member of are sorted alphabetically. If I login via GitLab the first team is selected.
I would like to have the option to select a "default" team which is automatically selected after login and not the first in an alphabetically order.53 votes -
Allow users to give nicknames to other users. Similar to how Skype, Steam, etc allows you to rename a contact.
Allow users to provide local nicknames for other users as a username is sometimes ambiguous as to who the user actually is.

Daily email notification option
I have the team version of Mattermost for a small project with friends hosted at my house. The best way to notify my group is via email, however, I can only send so many emails a month through my SMTP server. It would be nice if there was an option for sending a once a day notification added in addition to the instant, 15 min, and hourly.
It would be also really helpful if I could set this as default for all my users and let them change it if they need to.

Allow administrators to set default notification settings
The default notification setting causes a lot of spam. It's hard for new users to find this and adjust it to mention-only, so they end up simply leaving teams. It would be helpful if administrators could choose which default new accounts start with. In my deployment, we would prefer new accounts start with notifications set to mention-only, of course allowing the users to change it.

Have favourite channels visible from other teams
Private messages and their favourites are visible regardless of team. It would be nice if favourite channels are also available from any team, regardless of the team they belong to. This would make communication across teams faster and easier.

Invite users ignoring white list
We are using mattermost at our university and have a whitelist set-up so only people from our university can join. However some teams have indicated they want to cooperate with others who are not officially affiliated with our university and thus have no university e-mail address.
We would like an option for sysadmins to invite these users to the server.

Restricted channels with a join policy
Currently all you can have in Mattermost is public channels (joinable by everyone in the team) and private channels (not visible in any listing, and you need to be added).
The problem is that sometimes you want to have a private discussion where e.g. everyone from the IT department is allowed to participate. Currently you would have to add your whole department to such a channel (which is spammy, especially since you cannot hide any channels from your sidebar without leaving them).
It would be nice if it was possible to mark a channel as restricted. Such a channel would…

Add user profiles and text boxes
It would be great if there was a way to expand profiles to include boxes where users could host information. This might include: location, about me, skills, experience, links to external sites and portfolios, or active tasks engaged with. If there is already a way to do this it would be great to know. Thanks!

make threads multilevel with nested replies
After using Mattermost in a large organization setting it is quite clear that threads need to have multiple levels. Meaning I should be able to reply to someone else's reply and have it show up indented under his. This would be extremely useful once threads are made collapsible. Think of Reddit comment threads.

SIP implementation
Users should be able to sign in with a SIP account and make and receive voice calls through it and maybe even transfer it internally. It's important for customer services calls.
Video call is only a nice-to-have feature.
And admin needs to be able to assign a SIP account to a user.
It should be rather easy to implement since there a lot of SIP clients out there.

Sub-comment
Hi,
please implement this code to all CSS templates:
.post.same--root.post--comment, .post.same--root.same--user.post--comment {
padding-left: 4em;
}so chat look like this:
http://www.image-share.com/ipng-3649-129.html
We are using it some time, and chat is more clear to read.
Many thanks.

add anchors to /help/* docs
Many "normal" users have problems writing markdown when chatting.
For example, my friend don't know how to add "In-line Images".
So, I want to send him a link to "In-line Images" section at https://chat.ohze.net/help/formatting
But I can't because "In-line Images" is not an anchor like, ex https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#stage-1-pm-review (auto added by github for headings in a markdown document)1 vote
