An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI would use such an option too and I know most my team members would as well. Emoticons, yes, autoconversion, no.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI agree and wanted to make the same suggestion when I found yours. Ctrl+Click works pretty well in Slack and gives the user the choice to view higher resolution either in Slack (Click) or in Browser (Ctrl+Click) without having to make a permanent choice in options.

An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI've updated my Mattermost server to 4.0, hoping that the reluctant users that didn't want to join last year would join now, but they still value too much the Initial + Tab-autocompletion standard that IRC set years ago. In a sense, I very much understand that as I've myself got very used to that feature too and it feels just easier than @username, especially when the team is not set to display usernames.
Since I don't think this will be supported (the suggestion has not got much attention despite the few votes, and I understand that there might be more pressing priorities), is there a way it could be achieved with a plugin? If so, please could anyone point me in the right direction?
My users are locked in Slack because it offers Initial + Tab autocompletion and animated custom emojis. Other applications offer the autocompletion without @ as well, but only Mattermost offers animated custom emojis, let alone the improve privacy and security. Autcompletion is really the only thing is missed to make Slack migration absolutely seamless.
An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI did not use my Mattermost server since my team members did not want to join without this feature. However, I just upgraded it to 3.10 to see the latest changes. I think the only way to autocomplete nicknames is still to type @ beforehand, which I think is fair since the above feature request did not receive any official answer, but just out of curiosity: can someone using the latest Mattermost version regularly confirm the IRC autocomplete mode is still not possible?

I'm out of votes too, but I need the same feature and actually ended up here after searching if it could already be configured.
