Inline webm viewer
Show webm (and maybe mp4 as well if supported compression like x264) inline instead of having to click on the download button to view it. The video can already be played inside the mattermost app, but not inline. Right now our users use unnecessary large gifs to share animations because they work inline in the chat window.

add the ability to preview messages, or a larger editor in the RHB
It would be really great to be able to have a preview of a message before it's sent. Putting a full-size, WYSIWYG-able editor available in the right-hand bar would make it easier to compose longer messages, especially if you need to reference other posts inside of Mattermost.

Host a repository for the mattermost-desktop Debian package
It is nice to have a .deb package for mattermost-desktop, but it would be even easier to have a repository we can add to sources.list so the app can be easily updated.

Open attached image in browser
When trying to view attached images at their full resolution, having to save the image, find where you saved it, and then open it there is quite clunky.
It would be better to open the attached image in a browser, users can right click save it from there, and it can easily be maximized there

Touchbar integration
How about adding touchbar integration for the latest Macbook Pros? This is one thing that HipChat had that was quite useful - could be used for emoji search, setting away/dnd status, etc.
Thoughts?

Add a Windows universal app so that Windows 10 Mobile rollouts can use Mattermost
Let's go Windows Universal with this, and bring Mattermost to a whole new market of Windows 10 Mobile users who're waiting for first party apps for apps just like this. Then Mattermost truly becomes a Slack competitor.

Release RPM packages for those on rpm-based systems
I recently switched to fedora and now i can't install the mattermost desktop app using rpm - because there's no rpm package.
Thus I suggest you also release a rpm package (thanks to electron-builder this should be a pretty easy task)

Restrict normal users to invite external users to a private folder
To have better security control and use MM as a viable alternative in an intranet environment, it will be great to have the option at admin level to disallow nornal users to invite external users without admin approval

Desktop Notification should allow to answer right away (Desktop App, macOS)
On macOS, Desktop Notifications can offer a "Reply" Button in order to allow a user to answer to a message right from the received notification, which is very handy. I wish to have this feature in the Mattermost Desktop app as some of my users have used Hipchat before and they complain this feature is not available in Mattermost.

CTRL+F on Windows Desktop app puts cursor in Mattermost search box filtered to channel
In the browser CTRL+F brings up text search for the page, so propose in the Windows Desktop app CTRL+F brings up Mattermost search pre-filtered to the channel to have a similar effect.
Other than the ability to search a page, the browser and desktop app have almost the same functionality.
Adding this would make the experiences more equivalent, rather than having desktop just slightly degraded.

Try to use less CPU / energy in native Mac App
Right now the Mattermost native Mac app is using a lot of CPU, pretty consistently over 10%, which seems really high for an app of this type. What could it possibly be doing to use that much CPU? The energy impact is almost up there with known battery drainers like Chrome and Firefox. I know it's a beta, so please consider this some beta-user feedback. Thanks!

make Shift-Up select from the list of recent messages to reply to
Currently Shift-Up allows for a quick reply to the latest message, but what if someone just said something and the one you want is no longer the latest?
Repeated presses could move up through the message history, allowing to reply to a message that isn't the latest.
Likewise, Shift-Down (currently unused) could move down the list (and, optionally, all the way back to the main input field like Ctrl-Shift-L)

Notificiation settings per server
If using Mattermost with more than one Server it would be great if the user could have separate notification settings or the option to mute one or more selected servers.

maintain right hand sidebar (RHS) open state, when switching between teams (4.1.2)
Every time I switch between teams, the sidebar closes.
I'm looking to have the sidebar open 100% of the time, because it's functionally useful and it's more cognitive load when screen looks different after every team switch (often).

Add the posibility to have a list of teams instead of the very small squares in the teams column
The small squares of team names are very difficult to find a team in as the team name does not fit in the little square.
I would like to have the option to have a list similar to the one with topics within a team instead of those small squares.2 votes -
Show Emoji picker for current message when hovering on message and typing space
It is a bit cumbersome to select an emoji reaction since the button is fairly small and all the way to the right. I suggest to open the emoji reaction picker when hovering on a message and typing space.

windows people
Summary
Microsoft now supports pinning conversations within applications to the taskbar through what they call the My People API:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/contacts-and-calendar/my-people-support
It looks like it primarily supports windows store apps/c#, so it might not be possible to do with electron/node. It's also OS-specific, which isn't really beneficial to the app as a whole.
