The real solution would be to allow users to add any language.

The need would not be so urgent if we could just turn the whole thing off! Right now anyone using a language outside the hardcoded shortlist is doomed to a life of meaningless, naggy, red underlines on *everything* *all the time*. This is absurd.

When are we going to be able to add custom words to the dictionary? My company has its own set of acronyms and words that we use (and I'm assuming that pretty much every single other company has the same), that are constantly being marked as incorrect. These words aren't incorrect, they're just words that aren't used outside of my company.
I feel like pretty much every other app allows me to add custom words: any Microsoft product, any web browser, any other IM program. Why not Mattermost?
FYI: My company's IT is pushing hard to get rid of Mattermost, and move to a more standardized IM Client. Having glaring issues like this only adds to the list of reasons why Mattermost is being tossed away.

Please add Russian spell check.

Where can you change the dictionary from US English to English? I can see how to change the language, but there's only one option for "English".

- English (UK)
- English (US)
- French
- German
- Portuguese (BR)
- Spanish (ES)
- Spanish (MX)
- Dutch

UK English please! This is pretty basic stuff.

From that PR it appears you're using simple-spellchecker, and that already has built in support for en-GB among others. Why not start by supporting the languages you get free from your chose spell checker?

We'd love to have more languages for our spellchecker on the Desktop App.
