Pinned posts
It'd be great to be able to pin a post within a channel (although maybe only the channel owner?). I used the description of a channel to include an overview and a list of links to helpful resources, but the channel description only shows one line of text next to the title until you hover over it, which isn't the most intuitive.

Also It would be great if there was an option in the incoming web hook JSON to pin the message.

Yepp pinning and have kind of a favorite items list are absolutly needed here as well.

I would love pinned files as well, would really help to have a centralized location for documents on a distributed team that I could share on a per-channel basis.

This is probably exactly what they mentioned in https://mattermost.uservoice.com/forums/306457-general/suggestions/10461081-pinned-posts like Rodrigo said, that one has more votes. I suggest everyone vote on the same one so it doesn't hinder the votes.

Definitely a good suggestion. Currently it's not possible to point new members of a channel to the introductory or other important posts that came along the middle of the channel's history. Or posts containing shared files that you want to pin for the others to quickly get to, etc.

I just switched from slack and this is a feature that was very useful for sharing information. I'd love to see it added into MatterMost.
