Make list of emojis accessible near message input field
Make an emoji list panel (which shows all available emojis) accessible via button near the text message input field. The emoji list in help system isn't accessible very well.
6 votesEmoji picker feature is complete and shipped with v4.0 on July 16th. You can read about it in the [Changelog here](https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/changelog.html#emoji-picker)

Allow viewing who reacted to a post in the mobile app
When viewing reactions in the mobile app it doesn't appear to be possible to view who made each reaction. On the web and desktop app you can hover over the reactions to see who made them.

Support searching "in:" direct messages
It would be nice if "in:" could support direct messages. This was discussed in
https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-server/issues/7762
which depended on https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-webapp/pull/189 which was already merged, so maybe this isn't too hard to add now?

Make message sending faster
After pressing "enter" there is a small delay before message is posted into chat. Could it be speeded up at least on user side? It's annoying.

Auto-update the feed in a channel automatically
Right now, you have to refresh or switch channels to get new messages in your feed. It would be nice if this would happen automatically.. (like in Slack.)
5 votesThe system is designed to updated dynamically via web sockets.
In the Alpha release of GitLab Mattermost in GitLab 7.14 omnibus there was a mis-configuration in the installer where for some users the updating wasn’t dynamic but it was fixed in GitLab 7.14.1 omnibus and should work in future versions.

add desktop notification via Notifications API
User should be able to configure his notifications (which notifications to receive -mention, new message- and where - email, browser).
For desktop notification there's a W3C API. IE doesn't support them (http://caniuse.com/#feat=notifications)
Here's a wrapper https://github.com/alexgibson/notify.js5 votes -
Prompt to invite a user to a channel when you mention them
In Slack, when you mention a user within a channel but they are not part of that channel, Slack alerts you to this and asks if you would like to invite that user to the channel - this would be an incredibly useful feature in Mattermost.
5 votesThis is currently on master and will be in the 2.0 release (February, 16th)

Change max length of username so that full names can be used, Add Capital letters
Change max length of username so that full names can be used. As described in https://github.com/mattermost/platform/issues/1380 . usernames should be able follow enterprise rules. Ours is, e.g. name.lastname, or easier to read as Name.Lastname . Nicknames are not as good as well.
5 votesMax length of usernames was increased in v2.0.0: https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/PLT-1797

Add option to bounce icon in OS X dock for notification, in addition to or instead of the current notification system.
There should be a setting allowing the user to specify that they want the mattermost dock icon to bounce upon a notification. It should remain bouncing until the application is brought to the front again by the user.
Ideally, they could also choose to have it only bounce on mentions.

Remove the toolbar when sending message (the "Done" button is not necessary)
When writing a message you have a "done" button next to the input field.
Clicking that closes the keyboard.I would rather see that it sends the message (stolen from other apps such as message, slack, whatsapp and many more)

Keyboard shortcuts for new messages.
I would like Ctrl + N or Cmd + N to bring up the direct messages pop-up. Once a username is the last in the filter box and is highlighted, allow the enter key to start the new conversation
5 votesThank you Edwin for nominating the feature! The keyboard shortcut CTRL+K and CMD+K let’s you switch to a direct message channel (even if it hasn’t been started before), with Mattermost 3.5 and later.
Would anyone like to help re-tweet the announcement? https://twitter.com/mattermosthq/status/798922415690498050

Pinned posts on mobile app
Currently there is no way to view or create pinned posts with the Android app.
We're using pinned posts for announcements, but many of our users are exclusively using the mobile app.

Allow auto-signup with SSO/Gitlab
In a SSO/OAuth environment it makes sense to allow auto-signup. if login succeeds and there is no account yet, just create the account and sign in. The current oauth signup basically does this already. Im proposing to remove that step and move that functionality into the login button.
4 votesThank you for the suggestion and upvotes! Auto-signup with OAuth SSO (including GitLab) was released with v3.0.

Typing a mention should also suggest based on full name
Currently (3.1.0) when mentioning a user by typing @ the suggestion list is adapted based on the username. This should be extended to match based on the full name as well.
4 votesThank you Tim for nominating the feature! The improvement has been added for v3.2.
Would you be open to retweeting the announcement (http://bit.ly/2aALXfc) or sharing some positive words on the blog post announcement (http://bit.ly/29RJ6hn)?

Windows distribution via Chocolatey
Moving from GitHub issues so this feature idea can be discussed and upvoted: https://github.com/mattermost/desktop/issues/124
Chocolatey is a distribution tool for Windows applications, including many free software applications (for example, https://chocolatey.org/packages/pidgin). It allows an end-user to get application updates somewhat like using apt or yum on GNU/Linux.

Mail notification subject contain channel's name
The email is sent when someone who are in channel mentioned.
But, there is no information about channel name in email notification.
(cf. push notification has channel name information on it.)For better identification, I think that email notification need to provide channel name to mail subject.
4 votesThis feature is already merged into master and will be available in v3.4. Pull request here: https://github.com/mattermost/platform/pull/3824
