Keyboard shortcuts for new messages.
I would like Ctrl + N or Cmd + N to bring up the direct messages pop-up. Once a username is the last in the filter box and is highlighted, allow the enter key to start the new conversation

Thank you Edwin for nominating the feature! The keyboard shortcut CTRL+K and CMD+K let’s you switch to a direct message channel (even if it hasn’t been started before), with Mattermost 3.5 and later.

Unfortunately it does not work for multi user messages.
