As others have said - this is a big deal. As Hal Lesesne mentioned - push notifications seems tricky.

We (= 150 people) can't use it without native mobile apps, especially for Android. Je vous souhaite bon courage.

Open source iOS will be great, I can repack it using enterprise certification for internal usage.

Mobile support is the number one reason my team uses a commercial and closed source product. Essential feature for us include push notifications, native UI and offline caching.

Roadmap here: https://mattermost.atlassian.net/issues/?filter=10002
Mattermost ships monthly on 16th, and current thinking is releasing iOS as open source (in Swift currently) in either v1.3 (12/16/15) or v1.4 (1/16/16).
There's research to be done for how push notifications work, particularly on-prem. All subject to change as we're reviewing this feature idea forum, and talking to users across all our channels (http://mattermost.org) with each monthly release to adjust our roadmap,

I'm just curious how push notification for the native apps will work. Is it even possible to do push from multiple deployments to a single appstore app without some centrally controlled backend service?

Any idea when we could expect an android release? Is there a roadmap? Thanks!

Will the iOS app also be open source? I'd like to contribute to it :)

Perhaps the most important productivity feature for a team: easy and reliable access "on the go", for teams that aren't constantly facing a desktop screen in an office.
And unfortunately the only reason my team is still using a commercial and closed source platform :( Is there a roadmap on this feature? Many thanks! -
