make threads collapsible
A toggle option so that threads appear as "N comments" and open in the side-panel, so they do not interrupt the main flow of the channel, and you can follow each thread mode easily.

Collapsed Reply Threads is now in General Availability!
Thanks to everyone who has upvoted this feature! With Mattermost version 7.0, Collapsed Reply Threads (our most requested feature ever) is now available for all! System Admins can now enable the feature by default for all users (always_on or default_on).

Threads are there for a purpose. Please provide option to see threads when clicked on. Not displayed all the time. Too much scrolling otherwise

Super painful without this feature! We have some really big channels so this is critical to not missing important updates that get lost in a sea of responses to a thread!

Moving from Slack, the thread handling of Mattermost is most disappointing. There needs to be a different approach, or an Enterprise-level Matermost does not.

Threads are very hard to read and near impossible to follow in large channels. Hope an improvement can be pursued soon.

has anyone found a way to simply disable cross-posting to the chanel while waiting for Mattermost to develop the full feature? I'm thinking a quick CSS hack / a line to comment somewhere :)

Ditto - any updates? We've been using MM for a few years now and it's shocking this basic feature has still not rolled out. We use this tool at our outsourcing locations so you can imagine it's incredibly difficult to follow conversations at scale. Hoping for an update soon!
