Add custom user groups for mentions
Add cusom user groups for mentions. Something like @developers or @frontend to mention all members of group in this channel. Also it would be useful for large teams, when novices does not know who is who - with this feature they can determinate at least group
Here’s a plugin that can be used: https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost-plugin-autolink.

I tried autolink plugin, but it didn't show up in the completion candidates, so I couldn't respond to the request.

This is doable if you use LDAP (with E20 license)

Colleagues, I can suggest you a workaround that we are using in Sofia Monitoring team. In MM --> Account Settings --> Notifications --> Words That Trigger Mentions you can add a key word which can be used to notify you and act as groups in Slack for example we in Sofia Monitoring Team using "@monitoring and @noc" and colleagues are using those tags to ping our team. The only specific different than how Slack goups are working is that you do not need to be added in group and each team member can update his own tags.

This feature/setup is needed for many teams in many channels. This allows users to notify several users without using the @here or @channel option that notifies members that don't need to be notified of the question/issue. This saves critical time for DCO NOC Team where SLAs are measured in minutes and seconds count toward success or failure. Please do the needful to implement this option.

It is ridiculous that it passed almost 3 years and almost 1 year from being under review.
This feature must be in the first place! -

It would be VERY useful for large team. Ability to send a mention to one group, ability to invite one entire group to a new channel, ability to easily see which groups a user is in.
Allow write privileges on some channels to only some groups, .... -

It could be useful to have a way to easily tell in which groups an user is. Maybe visual tags (like RocketChat), or Username colouring (Like Discord). Or a combination of both (like coloured visual tags).

I'd love to see this feature. Mattermost is an awesome product and we have a lot of employees that work remote. It would be great to mention all developers for example.

Very good idea. The configuration of such groups should be possible via the team admin or System admin. Here you should consider whether you have to be in the respective channel or not.
