@Kiran: The feature is available as part of advanced policy options in Enterprise Edition E10 and E20.
Here is some brief documentation about these settings: https://docs.mattermost.com/administration/config-settings.html#allow-which-users-to-delete-messages

Please add this!!! This is a deal breaker for my team in using this at an enterprise level. We love mattermost, and would love to deploy it. The new design sounds great, though we will probably just completely disable editing of comments, unless edit history is preserved. Can you clarify whether or not any sort of edit history is kept?

Can we except this change https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/PLT-1555
in the next release ? -

When editing has been completely disabled by the admin, I would expect the up-arrow key to simply do nothing in the clients. (Currently up-arrow causes the editing window to come up)
The reason I mention this specifically is I would like to bind the up-arrow key to something else someday. (specifically: channel history browsing)

The proposed design would suffice for my community's needs.
Specifically, I would completely disallow editing of messages, and I would restrict deletion of messages as much as possible.

It is impossible to use Mattermost for serious communication not knowing that messages sent will not be deleted.

Mattermost is awesome, we just need this to use in production company wide.

The lack of this feature keeps us from setting up a mattermost server for cross-company communication where it is very important to keep a correct history. -

Thanks for response.
Internal team communications..
We had moved from slack to matttermost,Our team is very happy with mattermost.
Thanks to mattermost team. -
Thanks Kiran, so we can prioritize, can you share your intended usage with this feature--is it more like an online open source project working with strangers, or more with a close knit team at a company for example, or for a different audience all together?

I prefer "last edited" ..
And also need to restrict the user to edit/delete the message up to certain time.
-
Thanks everyone for the feedback on this,
Can you help us understand whether this feature would be more or less useful to you compared with a "last edited" indicator and a full history of the edits made to a message?

Yes.. It shouldn't be full delete
Deleted message should be hide... Author name and timestamp should remain as it is.
